That's a great thing to want to do. I feel the same about that kind of thing, my best friend was sexually abused by two uncles and eventually went to a therapist type thing and they told her she was making up the way she felt about what happened and pretty much dismissed her, which now has made her even worse.

I hope you can eventually be able to help and do all the things you want to do. :)

Have you lived in other cities before?

Thanks. I know I can if I set my mind to it. :)

Yes, two. When I was a baby I lived in one part of Ohio, as a tot, another part, and now I live in a place in WV. Oh and the time we moved away from my dad, I lived in another part of Ohio.

QUOTE (Chicken @ Mar 6 2010, 03:58 PM) *
Okay, then. Magic bowls? Not only do I not understand that, but I also wish atheists, agnostics, and the like would quit thinking Christianity involves magic. That is generally a pagan theme.

Magic bowls= lame joke referencing book of Revelation
Are you joking about Christianity not involving magic? The Bible is practically built on mysticism. An example you'd understand is that if Tarots are able to work in a Christian universe, they're only able to because of God. It's not like Satan can invent his own laws of matter.

QUOTE
And as for angels and eternal life. Well, I've seen people pray for traveling mercies out on the highways and sudden their car becomes completely totaled, yet they are absolutely unharmed.

...your point? That is one of the lamest arguments I've ever heard. First of all, what of all the Christians who pray for travelling mercies and die in a car crash, or the Muslims or Jews who pray for travelling mercies and survive miraculously? Or the atheists who survive miraculously? It's completely ridiculous to suggest that praying increases chances of miraculous survivals.
Second, why the heck would God choose to intervene in road accidents when he could be intervening with all the billions of other things that people pray for and he doesn't answer?
Third, note that they still had a car accident. God might as well have just not let their car crash? And maybe let them stumble on a thousand dollars lying in the road while he's about it.
Your point is further proof to me of how people will use any nonsense to justify their faith.

QUOTE
The reason that I figure they don't show themselves very often is because they have better things to do than prove to the doubtful that they exist.

That's obviously not so smart of them, since they aren't providing any evidence of their existance to begin with. Besides, what do angels do with their time? Okay, the Bible says they have different ranks and stuff in Heaven. Doing what, exactly? I bet they've got eternity to just sit around and do nothing.

QUOTE
As for eternal life, I just see that there is no end to the awareness of one's self. There HAS to be more after this. Existence doesn't just stop. You can't prove that death is the end. You've never been dead. Surely, the body ceases to function, but does the inner being?

What, exactly, is the "inner being"?
Your mind, your consciousness, your conscience, your awareness of yourself, all your emotions = functions of your brain, via nerves and brain cells. Death is indeed proven to be the end - when your brain ceases to function as a result of death (or other medical conditions such as a coma), so does everything you label as your "inner being". This is proven quite factually, as measurable brain activity (your inner being) of a dead brain is always 0%. The human body is a marvellous thing. It doesn't need an "immortal soul" to do all this stuff.
Existance of human awareness can and does "just stop". It's called "death". People like to believe that parts of the brain don't exist in the body but in an immortal soul, because the prospect of death - of unconscious oblivion - is really unpleasant to an intelligent being, and it's difficult to accept. That's completely understandable, but completely false. There is absolutely nothing to suggest an external soul and all the evidence to show that what you recognise as an "inner being" is functions of your brain.

I'm not stupid, I know all of that neuroscience stuff. You're going to contradict me, no matter what I say. Go somewhere else and ask questions. Obviously our belief systems clash.

Okay, I don't think you should pass on Hasfusel completely just because he has proven your points wrong. I don't believe in anything you believe in but we can still talk to eachother. I'm sure you have friends that have different religions and that doesn't stop you from liking them as a person. Religion shouldn't take over your life 24/7.
All Hasfusel did was prove his point further and saddly, he proved you wrong, it's no reason to shut him off.

Besides, I want to know what kind of ice cream you like. This is positive discrimination, and that's an oxymoron.
Note that Bubblegum doesn't count as a flavor.

I didn't shut him off. 0.o I just see that we are getting no where. He believes he has proven me wrong. To be honest I didn't read that huge post. I'm not being a baby; I have more sense than that. I just don't see a point in arguing with someone who will probably disagree with me regardless of any evidence I give him.

He's free to ask me whatever he wants and I still like my Foofoo, I just don't want to argue with him.

Anyway. Favorite ice cream? That's hard. I'll eat nearly anything sweet. Hm...let's go with Cherry Garcia or mint chocolate chip.

LOL! Poor Chicken. Have you ever played Fire Emblem? It's a fun game, but if you're really OCD, I don't suggest it. Once a character dies, they can't be brought back (I learned to save before I made my moves. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lalaexdee.gif) ).

What do you consider 'classic rock'?

Aaand, do you think your ideas on your religion would change if you were a teenager around the time Elvis came out, you loved him, yet your church told you it was the devil's music? Also, that isn't meant to be a religious question, I've been thinking about it and I'm not even religious lol, I'm just wondering.

Classic rock is like Elvis. Stuff that came from that era.

I'd just say "bullshit" and do it anyway. Holy rollers take things to far. Just because I'm a Christian doesn't mean I can't listen to what they call "devil music". My grandma would kill me for liking KISS but I could care less.

I know what you mean. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lalaexdee.gif) Do you think a Zelda game where Zelda who you played and Link was the one you were saving would sell?
