Look Alikes, Recycled Characters Options

Ok guys, I think that you would agree with me when I say that there are at least 3 or 5 characters in all the Harvest Moons that are almost the same or are look alikes thanks to some physical features or clothes. One example is the mayor of all the firsts HMs that suspiciously look like theodore from the circus now. But finally, when I bought AP I cheered because I realized that the mayor was new; although, short like all of the mayors lol.

Also the blacksmiths are old, crumpy looking, with a bold spot with hair on their side guys that ocacionally smile when ou give them their fav orbs and stones. (Yea I would too if someone gifted me gold for my birthday or even diamonds ^_^ .... get ideas ppl *wink*)

And finally, because if I continue you wont get to share your beautiful thoughts about it, there are the foreign people of all the Harvest Moons that at least one of them has to be a cowboy with a cool hat and scarf. Seriously, you should give it thought too and see for yourself that some of these characters are recycle, but I must also say that every individual is unique because of their job or personality. I mean, come on! NATSUME wouldn't make the same characters since thinking for new ones is part of their jobs. They are just look alikes..... right? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lalaexdee.gif)

Not really, Marvelous is notorious for reusing character designs and basing personalities upon done-to-death stereotypes. And actually, if you go and look through the games, you'll notice that they don't give two shits about making new, unique characters given that half the games reuse the same set of villagers from previous ones. (Namely, how BTN, FoMT, MFoMT and DS/Cute, all borrow the same primary cast from HM64 while IoH and Sunshine Islands have them as "vacationers", and how Magical Melody borrows most of its primary cast from AWL, SNES, and StH.) It's just something that Marvelous does, though to this day I don't particularly understand why they fail when it comes to character design. (Much like I don't understand how a licensing company as duck-footed as Natsume can still be in business after all these years of delivering nothing but pain, suffering, and shitty translations with an assload of grammatical and typographical errors.)

Also, there's actually one Mayor character who's neither short nor looks like Mayor Thomas. His name's Felix. He's from Welcome to the Wind Bazaar, and let me tell you, he really was a breath of fresh air. I was tired of seeing short little midgets running my village.

Oh yeah, and I do believe the upcoming Twin Villages game for DS has strayed from the typical mayor design as well, though you might not want to quote me on that.

Yeah, they are straying from the typical mayor design, thankfully.
Some of the villagers are still similar to older characters, but not too similar.

That definitely is a first, I had to do a little double take to make sure it was actually a girl. :D

Oh yea and there is usually a sibling pair where one sibling is all peppy and the other is introverted.

Back to topic, I hope that Marvelous takes some time to make new characters and stops the"Lets use the same characters and just make them look like new characters" drill.

And yeah, I just hope that the next Harvest Moon would be much much more different and more creative than the other ones. Even so, I wouldnt stop playing this game ^_^

Well, it's fun to point out which stereotype is who from what old game. But truly, they should be trying to make some new, unique characters. Trying to upgrade their games more from what they once were with great characters would be fabulous. Although, some people do love those oldies.....

Actually, Marvelous Interactive which is Japanese, creates, invents and designs the Harvest Moon Series. Natsume just translates it into English in America but mostly in North America. Rising Star games are just the same, they translate it into European languages. So Marvelous Interactive should have most credit for inventing the harvest moon games

Konohana mayor dresses like Indian, must like curry, and seems to prefer animals to crops (see her necklace)
But I think it's good to see new faces around!
I loved when they removed Mr.Gourmet, that creepie was annoying, I'm glad we have Pierre now ~
