Its an anime.

I knew Japan would crazy it up, but they changed Lilo's design? Her design is a part of what makes her character..

Apparently they love Stitch. Or at least the ones that play KH.

Classic Lilo's character redesign her. Bad.

New Yuna's redesign Good.

And what was so wrong with Lilo's orginal character design? The fact that she wasn't a generic beauty?

Geh. Japan, you fail. Usually your conformist ways don't bother me so much, but this is just too far. >:E

I don't see why the change is that big a deal. I was guessing they just changed it because Lilo's character design is NOT anime-drawing-style friendly. She neither looks like she could be in an anime, nor could her design be easily tranformed into anime style.

Also, judging from Harvest's comments that is not supposed to be Lilo. Unless they changed her name to Yuna . . .

Edit after checking Wikipedia:
Yeah. That is not Lilo, they replaced her with a new girl. It also takes place around Japan (the area is based on Okinawa), instead of Hawaii. It's meant to take place in the future, like after the movie Leroy & Stitch.

That makes it that much worse.

And old design was better Harvest.

On my personal opinion, I'd say that Japan is trying to say something to America, in the basis of Americanizing (The worst thing to ever happen to this country's television with a lot of help from 4kids.) They're probably saying, "Lets see how you like it when we take you're idea and change it around and see how you feel about it."

Uh, that doesn't happen in America. They might change dialogue slightly, and edited it to make it nice for tv. People consider that butchering, but they are just being too anal. I don't remember them bringing Bleach over and switching their school to California and making Rukia a blonde lifeguard.

That's because Adult Swim posts Bleach, and has no 4Kids influence. The prime examples I'm talking about are Pokemon, Sailor Moon, and Cardcaptor Sakura (Who had their name changed to Cardcaptors to be less "Sexist" against boys because Sakura is a girl name)

I was just talking about anime in America in general. That include Pokemon.

I don't remember Dawn becoming a blonde lifeguard either. Or them adventuring on the Oregon Trail.

True, but do you recall them ever calling a rice ball a rice ball before Diamond and Pearl? Or did they try to convince kids that donuts were triangles? then all of a sudden, the rice balls dissappeared and became crackers and sandwiches... They are becoming more leniant now, though. I'll admit that.

Of course it's better now. It's run by the Pokemon Company instead of 4Kids last I heard.

That's not what I wanted to say though. Every country ever has taken stories from other countries and readapted them to be more sensible and familiar with each other. It happens. It sucks. At least most of the time it's not as bad as what's going on here.
