If they do make more, it should only be a small number of new ones this time, not another 150+ with a few cases of screwing around with classic designs. Seriously, we don't need 600 Pokemon. We don't even need 493 or however many there are now. And what's worse is that some of the newer ones are starting to look like they don't even belong in the series, like they're some kind of crossover character. For example, Shaymin's flying form looks like a Sonic character, the Regi family looks almost like Angels from Evangelion, and Palkia looks more like it should be getting summoned in a Final Fantasy game.

They need to realize that kids don't need to be bombarded with new and increasingly unimaginative Pokemon every few years in order to stay interested. They're acting like kids all have the attention span of a goldfish when it comes to the things they adore.

They don't need to realize anything. They're making enough money off the series based on whatever actions they have done up to this point. It's all good.

Would you be happier if they just remade the first game every few years?

No, I'd be happier if they stopped trying to come up with 150+ new Pokemon that don't mostly suck every few years. Don't twist my opinions to try and make me look like some crazy "FIRST GEN ONLY" fan.

I was only using the first game as an example...

So am I to conclude that you don't want them to make any more Pokemon games, new or otherwise? Cause you can't really make a game with just 'a few' new Pokemon.

I happen to like most of the new Pokemon. They copped out on the fourth generation by filling it with legends, pre-evolution, and post-evolutions, but the third generation was very original. Only two Pokemon in generation three were related to previous Pokemon. That was a very good job on Nintendo's part.

I'm of the opinion that the more Pokemon, the better. Pokemon hasn't even come close to how many Digimon there are, and if they continuously come out with games that have the same Pokemon it'll get boring. Even I can't stay interested in a series that repeatedly uses the same monsters for, what, fifteen years now?

I think most the new Pokemon fit into the series nicely. Admittedly, some of the legendaries look a little out of place. But then, they are legendaries . . . and those always looked a little separate from the main series.

Yeah, some of the legendaries are a little out of place. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lalaexdee.gif) Those Regi people, especially. Or it could be that I just hated them so much and thought they shouldn't have ever been added to the series, lolz.

How man monsters did Digimon have?

Yes you most certainly can. They can make a smaller amount than they usually do so they don't run out of good ideas too fast, and add them to the truckload that already exist. The only reason they keep putting out such ridiculous amounts of new Pokemon is because they realize, "Kids will bug their parents for anything, no matter how stupid it looks, as long as it has to do with Pokemon".

And seriously, who's gonna be "bored" of the last generation only three years after it came out? I don't know anyone who got "bored" with 3rd Gen's lineup that quickly, and there are still many, MANY fans who love 2nd Gen's Pokemon.

And to answer your question, Oscar, there's close to 800 Digimon, half of which are just cheap recolours.

Wow! I did not know there were so many Digimon! I stopped watching the cartoon like three episodes after it came out. Thanks!

And so we have almost 500 Pokemon? The only part I don't like about so many Pokemon is wanting to catch them all, or at least wanting to have certain ones. As long as they manage to have all Pokemon catchable in one game without having to go through some special event or trade, that'd be cool. But since there's Gold and Silver, I'm sure each will have different Pokemon. Guess we can all trade!

Like SwedishElf said, around eight hundred. And yes, a lot of them are re-colors but the majority are not.

No, you really can't make a new game with just a few new Pokemon - not with the way the games are designed. You need enough new Pokemon to fill a new region. To say, "This is a whole new region with ten new Pokemon!" wouldn't be all that exciting. If it's a new region, it goes without saying that the animals living there are going to be different.

I'm not bored with any generation yet, but the flow of new Pokemon is nice. It makes me want to go back and play the old games as well. So the new games and the new Pokemon also remind of the old Pokemon, and thus keep me interested in the whole series.

Obviously I didn't have a tiny number like ten on my mind. I just mean they could easily use a somewhat smaller number of new ones and still have it work. And they wouldn't have as many completely stupid ideas. Really, they don't need to add over 150 new ones every time, and I swear the only reason they do is to keep some sort of tradition rolling. And because they know kids will want anything Pokemon-related no matter how stupid or unimaginative it looks.

4th Gen is proof that they need to aim for a bit less with the next generation. Half the 4th Gen Pokemon look laughable or like total crap.

I wouldn't say that. Generations four real issue is that too many are related to the previous generation. I like a lot of the Pokemon in the fourth generation. I like the new Eeveelutions, Gible's line, Shinx's line, Glameow, Buizel, Buneary . . .

Actually, they haven't added 150 Pokemon every time. The Pokedex sizes have been 151, 251, 387 and 493.

I also agree that the third generation had an awesome collection of new additions.

Don't get me wrong, I like a number of 4th Gen Pokemon myself. But it falls kinda flat when one notices that almost half of 4th Gen is creepy or lame-looking new evolved forms for 1st and 2nd Gen Pokemon and Legendaries that look like they belong in a futuristic mindscrew anime.

So far I'd say 2nd Gen was the best. It had the most cool new ideas. 3rd was pretty good, but there were a few I felt could've been left out. 4th Gen was a mixing pot full of equal amounts of good ideas and flat-out bad ones.

That was kind of my point. I like pretty much all the fourth generation Pokemon except the ones that come from old Pokemon and the legendaries.

I don't know which generation I like the most. I know that the first was the most original (duh), followed by the third (only two pre-evolutions), then the second (a handful of pre/post-evolutions), and then finally the fourth (half pre/post-evolutions).

3rd Generation was easily my favorite when it came to new additions. The pokemon they had added were so different than what you got in the 1st and 2nd gen and the starters were pretty good too.

... 3rd was by far the worst set. I liked the legionaries (Well, not the main legendaries.), and... maybe one or two normal ones.

I just enjoyed the starters alot out of 3rd (mainly Torchic group) Bagon group was alright, legendaries were out there compared to the original norm of Pokemon, they added plenty of original creations, so I'm not complainin, and Ruby was the game I probably got most addicted to Pokemon wise.

The main starters were ok. Treecko and Grovyle were pretty awesome, but the last form sucked.
