Yep, the Fifth Gen was announced this morning. The only other thing that they could be talking about is the new Pokemon Ranger game, but more tha likely it is the Fifth Gen.

Woooow, time for some new Pokeomon. I'm actually kind of excited to see them and a new DS game that is not a remake. I hope there's cool ones, especially the legendaries.

I'll really only care if there is a flying Eevee. I'll still get it none-the-less. I just hope it isn't as crappy as the 3rd gen...

I've been following this over on Serebii and they're saying it's not confirmed as the fifth generation yet. They're treating it could be another spin-off, like Ranger.

But didn't it say a whole new group of Pokemon? It probably is a whole new generation, it has been some time since the last one.

The website Saffy's link to says new Pokemon, but Serebii's doesn't.
Serebii does say there are two Pokemon in the new movie that haven't been revealed yet, though. But they're reluctant to confirm that they're going to be 'fifth generation' Pokemon. They're warning people that they might simply be new forms of old Pokemon. Like how Shaymin has a Sky Form and Giratina has an Origin Form. |

We are pretty sure that one of the Pokemon in the new movie that has yet to be revealed is Tangrowth. Why? We don't know.

If they are seriously about to make 150 more pointless Pokemon, I will headdesk hard enough to break the desk. What's even left to model them after?

Who knows, maybe they will come up with some pretty creative Pokemon?
I think the main reason they're coming up with new Pokemon is for the video games. I still have a feeling this won't be their last generation. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lalaexdee.gif) Maybe one more after this one to end it. They're making too much money out of it. |

They'll keep making new games and new pokemon until people stop buying. I guarantee you there will be at least two more generations. |

Yeah, two seems about right, because they can't keep going on forever, so two seems good. Then they'll probably do some remakes in between and throw in a console game.

Yeah, two seems about right, because they can't keep going on forever, so two seems good. Then they'll probably do some remakes in between and throw in a console game. They will keep making portable games until they sell no more... I only suggested 2 as the minimum, in the event that they put out a really crappy edition and Japan loses interest. Very unlikely. You do realize that the Pokemon Company exists solely to make Pokemon products? They're not going to stop doing business just because their franchise is getting older. |

They need to learn that their franchise can keep going WITHOUT making 150 new Pokemon with every new installment, especially after the designs start practially screaming, "NINTENDO IS RUNNING OUT OF IDEAS".

Oh please, you people need to stop being so critical of Nintendo and Pokemon. First and foremost they're a business whose made billions of dollars off this series. They know exactly what they're doing and how to stay profitable. Given that the series has been around for over ten years (going on fifteen now?) it's obviously not going to be the same as when it began. You need also realize us first generation folk are no longer their key demographic. Pokemon is a formula that can continue onward by continually "restarting" the series.
As for new Pokemon, so what? Who cares? Oh no, there's more Pokemon. No one's saying you have to go catch all of them. In fact, the "Gotta Catch 'em All" motto is no longer a part of the series. Not just because it's an old motto, but because it's become a ridiculous task - and one that Ash himself doesn't even follow. Not to mention the original series already had plans for at least 250 Pokemon, given that Ho-Oh was in the first episode! Adding new Pokemon provides excitement for their new demographic and the die-hard fans. Stop complaining. Nintendo and Pokemon are a business. They're not soiling your childhood. Your childhood is still there, and it is you who is inevitably soiling it with your complaints. The series no longer belongs to you. |

I'm right on with Saffy, what the h-e-l-l-o operator are you guys complaining about? You know what, if you're so sure that Pokemon is doing wrong, don't play it. Get out of the series, and stop complaining dipshit complaints.

I'm pretty okay with them making more generations, haha, I just don't know how long they can keep making new Pokemon. They do have a nice break in between every generation.
EDIT: I just wanted to say I got tired of those cartoons right when they introduced the third generation or more before that. I always seem to think of the cartoon more, though, when I think of Pokemon. |

I agree with both sides, but not so much to the point of complaining. I love the Pokemon series, it's just that some of the newer Pokemon could be done with... (ex. Lickilicky, Tangrowth, Probopass, Rotom formes) they just seem out of place when put with the rest of the Pokemon, especially those odd evolutions from Sinnoh...

Crystal: Can you post the link? The link to . . . what? Serebii? It's just "serebii.net". You can scroll around on their front page to find the right news article. If they are seriously about to make 150 more pointless Pokemon, I will headdesk hard enough to break the desk. What's even left to model them after? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lalatounge.gif) Electric eels, deer (Stantler only cover a single species of deer), goats, unicorns, numbats, koalas, wombats, aardvarks, anteaters, a proper scorpion, a proper trantuala, jagaurs, leopards, sandcats, a proper weasel, perhaps some dinosaurs like the Velocirapter or Brachiosaurus, and quite a few others. Nintendo has barely dipped into the vast amount of living, extinct, and mythical creatures in the world. I totally support more Pokemon and Pokemon games. |
