Honestly, most websites just don't have fantastic information on Daimyo. They all want to talk about Daimyo during the Tokugawa Shogunate, after they had already risen to power, not during their RISE to power some 200-500 years earlier. >:/

Okay! So, I'd post this at The Tolby, but sometimes posts are overlooked, so here I go. It's about U.S. AP History.

So, in history we're covering the first three presidents of the United States (that's George Washington, John Adams, and Thomas Jefferson). That'd be from about 1789-1809. The thing that I'm having trouble with is John Adams and his term. I didn't understand what it was talking about in the video we watched, and still didn't get it when we took notes. This is what I need help with; if someone could tell me what they were, that'd be great:

The XYZ Affair, and,
The Alien and Sedition Acts

I do not have any idea what these were or do. I vaguely know that the XYZ Affair had to do with the French Revolution, and three people who went there (?) and we weren't given the names; just X, Y, and Z.

Also, James Madison -- wasn't he a Federalist? Sorry, this doesn't involve my homework, but I'd like to know. Because, the Student Teacher who was giving us the review told us he was a democratic-republican. But he was for the Constitution, wrote the Bill of Rights, and wrote 1/3 of the Federalist Papers. Doesn't that point to him being a federalist...? WTC?

Oh, I totally remember all the stuff about the presidents! We did that last year in US History 1 H. So, lets see... The X Y Z Affair...Imay be a bit shaky on some of it but here goes from my old notes: it consisted of three Frenchies (X, Y, and Z) and Americans. They were making peace plans, and the Americans (Charles Pinckney, John Marshall, and Elbridge Gerry) were sent over to discuss the terms. Really, the French just wanted money. They wanted America to pay them to continue the peace talks, ALOT. Like a $10 million loan, $250,000 bribe ALOT. Naturally, Americans rejected this. Now, the French didn't like Pinckney for whatever reason, but Adams was smart in sending him. He said "No way Pierre!" and then we offered to give them the same treaty such as Britain's with the Jay Treaty. They didn't go for it, and so the French booted him and Marshall out of the country. Adams created a public statement against France, and we started to build up our navy in retaliation. It was called the XYZ Affair for some specific reason, but essentially France wanted us to pay them to keep the negotiations, which is really stupid.
Alien and Sedition Act I don't really remember, but I think it was that Adams (or someone) made up the new law that it was harder to become a U.S. citizen. He doubled the amount of years or something. This is what I want to say, but don't cite me on it or anything.

To now return the boomerang, is there anyone who is relatively adequate at Chemistry? My teacher is AWFUL - she hardly explains ANYTHING. We're learning about relative mass, and I do not understand it at all! If anybody could clear it up, I woudl be much obliged!

How do you write a narrative profile on someone you just met? It's my first English assignment and I don't understand what it is she wants us to do. She says we need to write a profile on someone in our class, but it needs to be a narrative.

I know how to write a profile, and I know how to write a narrative. But how do you write a narrative profile?

Someone help a Chicken? So, I simply asked someone to help me see why I was getting this problem wrong, but I used their formula, I used the book's formula, and I still am getting a different answer from my teacher. Can some of you who remember stuff from Algebra II work this out and see if I'm confusing something? The answer I get is 40, but she got -36.

I have to use the aei+bfg+cdh-gec+hfa+idb formula to find the determinant of this:

Well that's how you solve a 3 x 3 determinant. You're teacher must have the wrong answer, it happens (you'd be surprised how often I have to correct my $150 textbooks).
