It turns out Professor Xavier, a.k.a. Captain Jean-Luc Picard, a.k.a. Emperor Uriel Septim VII, a.k.a. Napoleon from Animal Farm, a.k.a. Dr. Lloyd Steam, a.k.a. that bald guy from American Dad, a.k.a. Patrick Stewart has been listed in the New Year's Honours and is gonna be a Knight.
So now we have Sir Ian Mckellan, Sir Anthony Hopkins, Sir Christopher Lee and finally Sir Patrick Stewart. Fingers crossed the next one is Sir Jack Nicholson. That would be awesome.

I saw Patrick Stewart alongside Ian McKellan this year at Waiting for Godot, he's a brilliant actor.

Oh my God, I LOVE Patrick Stewart!! Jean-Luc Picard!! Ack! ♥♥♥ Ironcially, I just got done watching X-Men 2. For a scary second, I thought you were gonna say he died. x-x I would've been crushed!! He also plays Scrooge in A Christmas Carol; his version is my absolute favorite, which none of the others can match. x3 Yay! I'm so happy for him!

I was watching him when I was, like, four, on that show. I loved him even then. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lalaexdee.gif) He was the beginning of my love of sci-fi. :3

I had this exact same thought. I was prepared to bawl my waffleing eyes out over his death and then... *poof* the veil of obscurity lifted and I found out he was knighted instead. :'DDDDDDD

I too approve of this. Patrick Stewart is teh awesome sauce. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lalaexdee.gif)

Goddamnit, I had to read your list of things he's done to find out whether or not he had died or something. Be more careful with awesome celebrity names in topic titles.

No kidding. With how this year had been going I thought the same thing. I was like "Oh GOD." Doesn't help that I thought he was already knighted. What took so long anyway?

I suppose it served to raise tension :P

I also used to think he was already knighted and when I found out he wasn't I was all "why the hell not?"

Bets on who the next stage/film actor to be knighted will be?
You tend to only get knighted for "services to drama" if you're also a very talented theatre actor, so they need to be in a lot of plays as well. So no Sir Jack Nicholson (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lalasad.gif) though I suppose it isn't impossible.

That would be pretty good. He's been in a lot of famous old films as well as plenty of good recent ones, and he's a darn good actor. He's won about 12 awards, played several iconic roles and to make things more likely for a knighthood he's English. He hasn't done much for the theatre, though, but I still think he'd deserve this.
I suppose he just needs to be older (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lalatounge.gif)
