Veteran's Day, Just a random thought Options

Well Veterans day is clearly about respecting our veterans who were in the military, but I was just thinking, maybe RS should have it's very own veterans day. No it wouldn't have to be on the same day, or even take out the idea of the real veterans day, but just something to respect the people on here who have been around for a while (A year or so), just for the people who have came here and stuck around. Thoughts? Ideas? This sounds pretty weak right now, but I'm sure if you guys added some things it could become into a better idea (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lalaexdee.gif)

It's problematic when you offer too much to the vaterans of the community. You want to reward people for being her a long period of time, but you're ultimately excluding new users as well. I feel we've done enough.

I mean we are getting an over whelming number of new comers joining, so maybe it's a bad time for it? I don't know was just thinking of a way to kind of congratulate the people that have stuck around through the years like you n DPB n so on.

Make us mods for a day. That could be fun. For each year here you get a new power. 1 year members can edit post in like the lame section. 2 years, the better section. Tolby gets to be admin for a day. You know, stuff like that.

That could be potentially disastrous. I also think basing it on the amount of time someone's been here is a little unfair. Just think, if you do this once now and possibly more times in the future, those who have been here since '07 or earlier will always get more. It's just not fair to those who want to (and likely will) stick around.

That said, I do think a Veteran's day sort of thing sounds kind of cool, but it needs to be based on something different...

Yeah, basically there's little to do to give much to veterans. Even less when you consider how many we freakin' have. I'm fine with nothin' happening.

Yeah, it sounded like a good idea to me at first, but I hadn't quite thought it through especially considering how many new people we are getting and all the veteran members we have, and then the whole unfairness to those who didn't even know about the site when it was created. :/ if anyone has better ideas on how to tweak it so its fair and not really excluding many people please suggest it, but make sure it's not a Tolby day (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lalaexdee.gif)
