Is it worth it to get the classic controller for Harvest Moon or should I just save some money and stick with the wiimote and nunchuck? Money isn't really the issue but I don't want to spend money on a classic controller and find that it dosnt control as well.

Also, does the Canadian ebgames get any freebies if you preorder?

Well, in my opinion, it is much easier to play the game with the classic controller, but that's speaking from playing Tree of Tranquility. I'm an old-school gamer and I like the classic feel much better.

Don't know the answer to the second question though. My guess is that the freebies would be the same as in the United States. That is, you get a duck plushie. But it would be better to ask someone at your local game store.

I don't know about EbGames doing the same thing.

I've pre-ordered a HM from there before and didn't get anything, and I also live in a small city where I am one of the few who even bought the game from them lol.

The wiimote and nunchuck aren't so bad, actually, now that the motion controls have been mostly removed; I had to use them once 'cause our classic controller wasn't working. The classic controller is better, but it's also a good $20 or $30 dollars. It's really mostly a matter of preference.

So do you think that it's worthwhile to pick up a classic controller? I don't neccessarily mind the Wiimote+Nunchuck combo but I kind of want to play with the CC because my first and only other harvest moon I've played so far is A Wonderful Life S.E so I want to relive that. I'm leaning towards buying it and I just need a little advice is all.

Since you don't NEED to swing the wiimote like an idiot to do actions from my memory, there's no real reason that the classic is necessary aside from comfort preference. It's still just hitting the A button.

I certainly think it's worthwhile for the classic controller. It has a more natural feel, especially if you're used to playing games on the Gamecube or the PS/PS2. I don't like the wii-mote and nunchuk in general, I think they're a pain to use if you aren't using the motion controls, and AP doesn't even have motion controls. I use the classic or my old Gamecube controller whenever I can.

Besides, you can use the classic for other games, too.

But that's just my opinion. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lalatounge.gif)

You don't need it for virtual console games. I have plenty and I just use the GC controller or the Wiimote sideways. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lalatounge.gif)

I could have sworn you needed it for those. I read it somewhere. (Stupid internet can be so unreliable sometimes. >_>)

Ah well, I don't have any virtual console games . . . yet. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lalaexdee.gif) I imagine those games are easier with the classic - if you've played them on the SNES (like I did).

For VC N64 games, supposedly the classic controller is necessary; my Wii tells me so every time I play one. It's still better for the button setup in SNES games, though 64 games don't have X and Y buttons, so it doesn't make much of an impact...
I really like the classic controller; it's small, just like my hands. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lalaexdee.gif) If you like the feel of a controller, then by all means, get it; I'm very used to playing HM games from a traditional controller, as I've been doing so exclusively for half my life (holy bananas, I've been a fan of this franchise for longer than I thought!), and... well, it's not that there's anything really wrong with the Wiimote/Nunchuck setup, but it feels a little weird.

To the VC the Gamecube controller is a classic controller. The classic controller IS nicer, but, well, the buying thing.

I use the Classic Controller. I have no problem with motion controls...but not even Nintendo themselves can make a decent waggle on the system they created.

So yeah, Classic Controller is worth it.

...basically illustrates my opinion. I find the Remote+Nunchuk option far more comfortable... with the classic controller, you can't sprawl out wherever; you have to have your hands bunched together to play, which requires more tension and focus, meaning greater chances for some horrible episode of carpal tunnel syndrome. The further apart my arms can be, the happier I will be playing the game, especially long-term. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lalaexdee.gif) However not everyone has the bed-next-to-TV thing like I do.

I have trouble playing games like that. I always have to be up and at attention, even if it's something as easy-going as Harvest Moon. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lalatounge.gif)
But I'm glad you like it. The Classic controller is better for me.

Well the only reason I bought my Classic Controller was to play Virtual Console games that I had bought through the wii channel. I don't ever use it to play ToT though. I use the good ole' nunchuk and wiimote for that. :D

I'd use both, I can't tell the difference besides my arm freedom.
I honestly like using the proper controller for each system.

Wii= Wii Remote-Nunchuck
GameCube= GameCube Controller
