Is there any way to trace a number? I got these really weird texts from someone playing a prank and I need to find out who it was! It wasn't some random kid. They knew what college I went to and obviously my cell phone number. I call them, but no answer. Strange? Yes, very much!

I get a number of weird calls and being the paranoid guy I am, I often background check them. You can often just type the number into Google to see if any information pops up. I also use Canada 411 which offers a reverse look-up for phone numbers to give you the address and name of the individual in some cases. I'd imagine there's a similar reverse telephone look-up for the United States, but I've never actually looked.

It's amazing what you can do with just someone's phone number who "accidentally" called you. I remember once finding the guy's name and a picture of his house on Google Street View. And all that came from typing his number into Google.

Yeah, I was looking up for some reverse calling things or whatever and I couldn't find anything that was free. They only have free ones for landlines, but not cell phones. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lalasad.gif)

Unless you're giving out your number to random people then, again, it's probably a friend.

Once, last year, I kept getting these texts from some dude that was a picture of him (he looked like a scary gangster I'd avoid in school. But I think I could tell it was my school, but I dunno) and the words, "@ng3l" or SOMETHING like that. It was weird.
