I have finally beaten SNES Ghost Valley 2's expert ghost. It only took me an hour of non-stop attempts. I would get so close only to lose by 100ms sometimes. That was a really tough course to master.

Yeah, whenever my friend and I would go back and forth sending ghosts to beat to eachother, we'd pretty much only improve by like .1 seconds each time.

I like how the world record is just 53 seconds as well. It just goes to show how little room for improvement there is on that course. I mean six seconds away from the expert ghost is not much at all.

It is the shortest course, after all. I think that's why my friend chose it, so we wouldn't be going insane trying to do a 3 minute run where you could make all kinds of mistakes and have to start over.

I have to admit that was the one perk of the course. If you failed you only lost at most a minute. Normally you'd fail at the first jump about 10 seconds in.

Awesome, I finally beat the expert ghost for SNES Mario Circuit 3. Turns out you just had to use the mushroom in another place. Then it was basic corner cutting to get the seconds down.

I honestly haven't played the game all that much since maybe March or April. I picked it up in May while Kyle visited, but I only really got back into it on Thursday night. However, I have been playing pretty much non-stop since then. So yes and no :P When I pick it up I certainly clock the hours.

I play F-Zero much more, but the core elements of saving time and winning are the same: finding new ways to cut corners. Only problem is, your boost is also your health in F-Zero and going off jumps is usually very beneficial for gaining speed, where in Mario Kart you got drift boosts and mushrooms, while going in the air is usually a waste of time.
