Actually, the rectangle shape works out well. Perhaps some kind of effect to the edges and/or a drop shadow? (Or perhaps a slight combo of the two with a sort of shadowy backdrop-type border?) Other than that, I love it!

Well, I do like the cream/white light behind the text, (though the white bit that's showing up around the shadow/border is weird - I assume that's because you didn't save it as a png file), but I like the smaller text from the first one better. Perhaps you could do the lighting effect to that text the way it is? (and umm.... in the second one, you forgot to capitalize "Fight"....)

EDIT: And Jitterbug, whenever you get back from wherever you went, I've been looking at it (the sig/avatar) and I think a light-colored text (probably a white/cream color) with like a black outline or a dark smoky effect (much like the light you did previously) underneath might look good too.
