The Mountain and the Wood Fish Options

Firstly, I can't seem to get access to the upper part of Gelato mountain. I've been giving the bear food with a "I think she likes it" response consistently for a season and I have made no progress. I am also having a lot of trouble leveling fishing quickly. Any tips?

With the Mama Bear: just stay the course. It's a pain in the toosh. A SLOOOOOOOOW pain in the toosh.

Wood fish: I was a level 4 fisher with a copper rod before I caught mine. So maybe spend a little time fishing each day and upgrade your rod?

I believe you give her two honey things a day for around 20 days and she'll come around. It's double that if you've only been giving her one...

And as for the fishing rod issue... All I can tell you is clear a whole day (feed your animals when you get back, or put them outside) where the only thing you do is go to Cream Beach. Keep casting your rod. Preferably, charge it up as far as it will go before you release 'A'... And keep the fishing rod in the water until you get the message that says something like 'Didn't get any bites' or until you catch a fish (or trash)... If you take several days (not too many, because people might lose friendship hearts) like that, the process goes by much faster.

Ugh yeah I remember that, it was PAINFUL. I used honey and it worked fine. And I had a level 4 gold fishing rod, and the wood fish was super easy, I caught it immediately.

For me, the bear always takes one week (seven days) to befriend. The fastest way is to give it two honeys a day, everyday.

As for fishing, the only thing you can really do is clear the day and just fish - as SCG says. The best spots are Cream Beach and the Gull Islands because those fish are harder to reel in, thus better for your rod. But, you don't have to worry about clearing to many days in a row for fishing. The villagers points won't go down if you ignore them in this game.
