For some people Disney's purchase of Marvel for $4 billion is big news. Yet I've heard little more than blurbs from most news sources. Anyone else actually interested in this purchase? Thoughts?

Newsarama seems to have some details :]

Darth's beloved Spider-Man will now be along the same lines of Mickey Mouse :0

Oooohohoho this can't be good.

aw nuts. This is probably going to affect Orlando in some way. Expansion of themeparks, renaming a lot of junk in Islands of Adventure. Super.

Well, really, most of what I hear about modern Spider-Man comics is belly itching so I can't really say that it'd get worse or anything. Worse thing is that they decide to abuse movie rights, or drop/alter good comics because they don't like the image. Oh. And Kingdom Hearts Marvel World.

I hope this isn't true or it might become Hammer Time in a very, very literal sense for Disney. Hannah Montana is not something I wish to associate with The Incredible Spiderman or the Marvelous X-Men, and I would kill to keep the two apart, as I am sure would many many many fans of all ages. Mr. Disney Executive Man is not going to be sleeping soundly tonight, I hope, for a great misdeed is placed on his conscience.

Oh no. Stupid Disney needs to learn they can't own everything. I certainly hope they don't mess this up royally . . . >_>

Of course they will. Expect to see the X-Men break into spontaneous song and dance while Dr. Doom overcomes his problems by being friendly and singing to children, and then advertising the Jonas Brothers before taking off his mask and everyone is happy. Disney are eviller than 4-Kids. Peroid.

You guys make it sound like Disney doesn't make anything good. Cool Runnings and Pirates of the Caribbean are pretty sweet, and there's that crazy ass steampunk game in the works. Meanwhile, not everything Marvel makes is impressive. This is more about business than creative control.

Hence why I changed my perspective when I actually thought about it.

Dinsey does put out some good stuff. But they haven't done anything worthwhile in a long time.

In the last few years they've succeeded in corrupting a whole generation of kids with their mindless poison. And pirates of the carribean was good because it was piratey and full of Johnny Depp. Disney sucks. Goodnight.

Haha!
I'm not sure what's going to happen, but it MIGHT not be so bad.
Though I do hate thinking of Marvel as Disney...

Instead of Disney On Ice, just imagine…

The Incredible Hulk… On Ice!
