Well, for my first new project here I wanted to begin a loose but full translation of the official website/magazine scans that are available so far. I would start off with more, but...Marie is badly sleep deprived because Marie's noisy neighbours are not permitting her to sleep at night. ^^;;; (And they're making Marie talk in the third person for some weird reason.)
So... I'm starting with the story. Anyone who can speak Japanese well enough to make a loose translation of the information on the site or in magazines, please help out! Beware of Spoilers! Rune Factory 3 Official Website -------------------------------------------------------------- Story [Link] QUOTE "The thunder roars one stormy night. Sia, realizing she hears a sound in front of her house, finds a monster (Wooly) lying there. She hurries to bring the monster into her house and warmly cares it. "The next morning, having regained its strength, the monster turns into a human! "However, since he did not know who he was, had lost his memory, and was confused, he left Sia behind, as though he were escaping. "The hero unsteadily meandered close to a farm and meets with Sia again. He follows her recommendation and decides to borrow the wooden house (farm). The town was confronted with the problem of monster activation." I'm not totally sure I understand the last couple of sentences there. I didn't even post the last one; it seems to suggest that there might not be a future for a human who can transform into a monster. I think we need to know a little more about the gameplay before we understand the whole "monster activation" thing. The official site doesn't say much about that! (Just that you're not supposed to transform before villagers, as your guy's ability is supposed to be kept a secret.) --------------------------------------------------------- System: [Link] Monster Transformation QUOTE Enjoy a fantasy life from two viewpoints: human and monster! Transform into the form of a Mokomoko! [That would be "Wooly" or however it's spelled in English.] If the hero equips the "Transformation Belt," why... He can transform into the form of a monster (golden Wooly)! From human to monster, from monster to human. You can transform with one touch! Note: This is a secret from the people in the village. Transform in a place where no one will find you! (IMG:http://i29.tinypic.com/210aam0.jpg) Mais: "If I transform here, there might be an uproar. I should find a place where no one's around." --------------------------------------------------------- Marriage Candidates MARION [Link] A nurse who is a witch apprentice, but she has a very broad personality. Her goal is to become a great witch like her grandmother, or a great doctor. At every opportunity she'll want to give an injection. She'll often be reckless to reach her goal, and often troubles the people in town who become her patients (victims). However, she isn't truly a bad person. “Aw, no! Patients? Are there no patients!?” “What? Did you come for a shot?” In the Movie at the bottom of the page Marion: We haven't had a customer in a long time! So, where does it hurt? Your head? Your chest? Or some place that you can't talk about? Mais: Huh? Marion: I see, you're not even well enough to talk. Then, if I give you this one shot you'll be fine! Maid: That's not... (( This one gave me lots of trouble... Help is appreciated! )) Marion: "Today's terrible weather, so..."??? (一本いっとく--can't quite figure that one out) Mais: "Morning." Marion: (Something about something experiment-related thing being brought by the “mischevious tanuki”) "I wonder if that tanuki is OK?” Mais: "Huh?" TOONA [Link] A girl who lives and works at the weapons shop. She doesn't say much and seems to not want to get close to people. She has some sort of secret, and to influence those near her, she avoids getting too close to people. However, the owner of the weapons shop, Gaji, doesn't delve into the fine details, so she keeps herself at a regular distance and makes her living by helping in the shop. “...What?” “...Don't get too close.” (or "casual with me") In the Movie at the bottom of the page Mais: "Ah, um... You're Toona, right? I'm Mais, and I live in this town now. It's a pleasure to meet you." Toona: "...I know." Mais: "Oh... That's right." Toona: "...Nice to meet you." Mais: "Huh?" Toona: "…..." Toona: "...What?" Mais: "No, I don't have any particular need from you, but..." Toona: "If you don't need anything then don't talk to me." SIA [Link] Sia is the "main heroine." She loves flowers, and is often in the flower field. Her personality exposes no kind of discrimination, if likened to a flower, she's a creature who'd be something like a “sunflower.” “If you talk to flowers, will you/they cheer up?” “Please give them water every day.” In the Movie at the bottom of the page Sia: "Is that so? Are you raising flowers?" Mais: (Of course) Sia: "Oh♪ Flowers are living creatures too, so please give them love." Mais: "Good morning." Sia: "This town is kind of in the country. But, I really love being surrounded by nature." This post has been edited by Marie: Aug 13 2009, 02:29 AM |

But I can't wait to see more from you! |

Yeah, I figure most of the people who are interested already know this stuff... But it's still fun to do. ^^
The whole transformation thing looks really interesting. I can't say I really like the look of the main character though. He looks too young. Well, all the main characters in RF have seemed pretty young. But Mais seems particularly young. I'd question whether he's really old enough to marry... But, if you could marry Luna in ToT, I guess age isn't a barrier. I was curious to see what would happen if you try transforming in front of a villager, but the screenshot seems to indicate that if you try that, it won't work. That's too bad. It would be funny to see people freak out or something. (Though, honestly, he's just a Wooly, so how bad could that really be? They're cute and fluffy!) |

I personally have been way too lazy to really look up this stuff so it's pretty great to me. And yeah, Mais' character design just plain feels off to me. =\

I kinda warmed up to Mais' character design over time. But Raguna, Kyle, Aria, and Aaron are FAR better in comparison.
But meh, I'm still excited. Just not as excited as I could be. I can't WAIT to play as a wolf. But this makes me wonder. If you transform into a Buffamoo... Can you milk yourself? >> << |

Raggy's the best of 'em all. :3
I think the transformation is a good idea with this game, but, is this out only for DSi? Otherwise I can't get it until I buy I DSi.... ....Who'd want to milk them self? |

The website just says "Nintendo DS." Are they backwards compatible? >.> I think it's silly how Nintendo keeps re-releasing the DS... I still have my original one and am sticking with it!
If you can transform into a Buffamoo, I sincerely hope you can't milk yourself. That would be beyond creepy. But if you're a Wooly... Do you suppose you can you sheer yourself? I'll bet golden wool would be worth a lot! Heh, you probably can't do that, though. |

Charmy: It's for the DS, and don't get the DSi. I actually downgraded yesterday. I just like the DS Lite so much better. You can Play GBA games. And the paint doesn't chip. And the grip feels nicer and doesn't give you hand cramps.
The only DSi specific games are stupid. And they're only minigames. It's basically a dummied down Wii Ware. |

All kinds of creepy. Wow.
but yeah, aside from DSiWare I don't think there's any games that don't work with older style DS. I still have the ol' 'lectric blue so I too hope nothing goes crazy. =\ |

I would laugh if you could pet yourself. If you can, then Mais must have serious loneliness issues. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lalaexdee.gif)

I wasn't really planning on getting a DSi unless if all my games suddenly started to pop up on it.
When my friends see my DS there all like "WOW, what DS is that one? It looks old." D: I have the original silver one. :) Lenyo: *Nodnod* |

I still have my same old purple-blue ds, I see no point in buying a dslite or dsi, cause they are the same thing, just a different design, and wii-similar upgrade for the dsi.

Yay, they updated the official website today! ^^
The official blog says this game will be released on 22nd October in Japan. It'll have a drama CD attached, just like the previous games, though when I reserve the game at YesAsia or Play-Asia, I never get those. Pfft. Oh well. There's a bit of new information up, as well. And they say the next update on the site will be on the 17th. (Guess they're doing it once a week now.) |

October 22...? ;-;
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooo... That actually really sucks for me, since I'll be in Japan from October 1st til the 8th. Too bad. I'm still curious about all the new heroines... Toona is the one I like so far. Though no matter who Mais marries, they're all cradle robbers, taking advantage of a 12 year old boy's susceptible heart... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lalaexdee.gif) October 22? SWEET! Now I am pumped and ready! Come on time! Move faster! I want it to be out now. I'll be in Japan in December, but meh. Who said anything about buying it? *Mischievous snicker* |

I wouldn't be surprised if some of the girls themselves are about 12 years old... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lalaexdee.gif)
Children marrying children and producing more children. How lovely. I like Sia and Chocola best so far (something about childish, food-obsessed girls appeals to be for some bizarre reason...), but we'll have to see. They might be saving some of the most interesting heroines to be revealed last. |

Sia and Witch Girl seem to be my favourites as of now. :3
The release date doesn't matter for me, I buy games I can read. |

Marion definitely looks like a sure fire character I'd like...(Yay for mischievous witches)
- Cough - On that note, I wonder what stereotype the Japanese themed girl will be.. |
