Which character should I go for in Brawl? And what should I do about my flaws with them?

Mario, simply because you're a little predictable as Pikachu and Toon Link. You seem to be better about moving around as him as well.
On the internet, it's dependent on the lag. Oscar has no problem mostly sticking to Kirby's side smash for easy damage and kills cuz it goes off fast and he can spam it fairly easily. With lag, even if you see it coming, there's a much better chance of him landing it. If we were all playing on the same Wii, he'd probably have to use more variety. I guess I'm saying "know your enemy", which mostly comes down to knowing the characters and who plays who. Obviously, Oscar likes Kirby. His favorite things to use are the side smash, stone, cutter (Up+B), and hammer. Seems pretty simple, but the fact that he knows when to use them and the lag seems to be working in his favor: the moves are hard to interrupt and they keep him relatively safe. Side Smash, all you can do is dodge or block. Avoid trying slow attacks if he's on the ground and ready for you. He'll repeat it if you block and let go, so ideally you'll either way to roll out of the way, grab him, or use a basic A attack. Stone he'll save for recovery (flying way over head when returning) or any situation where you're just directly under him. Don't bother trying to go after him, just wait for him to come down and then either nail him with a smash attack or try to grab him. Cutter is quick and very wide range, but won't kill you. To deal with it, either back up (don't try to get a hit off him, he moves too fast), jump, dodge/shield, or use the cape. Hammer he likes to jump before using so he gets a little momentum in, but overall it's the same as the side smash. Overall, Oscar isn't a very aggressive player: he'll let you come to him, or he'll move slowly, and then just dodge your attack and nail you with a hammer or smash attack. You could try something like, run up, dodge twice, then grab or some quick attack. He doesn't like to grab as much so you can probably get away with merely shielding sometimes. Koz likes Zero Suit Samus. He'll start by throwing the Power Suit pieces; just jump over them or block. He'll usually keep throwing them til they're gone so if you manage to get one or have a reliable aerial you like, go with that. He's big into the side+B (that wavey whip that can kill) and the down+B (the quick flip jump that you can't touch him during). Other than that, he's pretty good about using all of his moves but they mostly aren't that dangerous. The move that's most likely to kill is the up+A in the air, so don't try to attack from above when he's in the air, just dodge. Unless you happen to be playing Toon Link, of course. Lenyo likes Sonic, but I didn't get to play long enough to see how he was. I just know he likes aerial attacks and those spinning charge moves like everyone else who plays Sonic. |

What if you hadn't eaten in two days, you walked into the homeless shelter, and my dad (who volunteers there on Sundays after church) told you it was a choice between the tuna or egg salad?

Were you disappointed when you found the 8-bit part of the Giygas fight theme wasn't in EB0?

I don't like it either.
I thought the "music" they played was even better. Was like... super eerie space crickets or something. Made him more ominous and mysterious that way. Still not as crazy as the removed Mother 3 boss though. Nope, don't like the taste of eggs. |

Yeah, it was pretty cool. Just figured that that theme would have something to do at some point.

Couldn't you trust the construction workers to take it as read that you'd be laying in front of their bulldozer all day?

I think the solution is to egg the bulldozers.

"I'm thinking of ditching the tournament. The item selection is pretty poor, I feel like it'll basically be a race to get as many items and little focus on regular fighting."
When you say this, you're referring to our tournament? So you don't want any items or...? EDIT: Lolz I saw you're beating Oscar strategy! It's pretty good, you know my moves, but will it be good enough? XDXDXD I guess I need to be more agressive! |
