Welcome to the world of (IMG:http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g281/worthlessnewbie/EarthBound/RS/M3Translated.png) The concept was brought up, and I decided I could do it easily enough since I got the guide. I'm still playing RFF and Klonoa's coming out soon, but again, the guide. Hopefully it won't be too tough to stick to. Also, the reason this isn't in the other "Let's all play Mother" topic is because I'm still in the middle of the first game on there. Anyway... let's meet the family. Hinawa The gentle and protective mother who's currently tending to the twins while Flint takes care of the livestock back home. Flint Father and loving husband, Flint is quiet and reliable. Lucas A bit of a weakling to be sure, but a kind and gentle boy. Claus Unlike Lucas, Claus is energetic and out going, though he's still a good kid. Boney Though far from a vicious protector, Boney is still a dedicated and lovable family pet. Now that that's out of the way, welcome to the Nowhere Islands, Tazmily Village, beyond the Sunshine Forest to the home of Alec. Claus is as daring and full of energy as ever, while Lucas is still a bit coddled. But neither one seems tired of playing at all. My father seems sad to say goodbye to his grandchildren after seeing them for the first time in so long, but we should be home by this evening. I had forgotten how nice and refreshing the mountain air is. You're always covered in smell of sheep back in Tazmily village, so I really wish you could be here to take in this air. The next time we visit, let's ask one of the neighbors to tend to the sheep so we can all come up here as a family. Claus, Lucas, and I were always thinking about you. Awesome, Darth! I've been wanting to play Mother 3 lately and you're just helping me to get in that mood :) Keep it going, though you may want to shorten it a bit in the future. I guess it's fine as is, but you wouldn't want to deter people.

Yeah, I was just making sure to get all I reasonably could for the prologue. This first chapter will be text heavy too, though I won't just talk to random NPCs and get their dialogue, it's still pretty story heavy. That and introducing all the NPCs...

Unfortunately, that's about the extent of his usefulness; he's too preoccupied with the latest emergency to provide any assistance during battles. I just grab up the stick Boney has in his doghouse, and I make sure to equip it. If you don't equip things they end up as useful to fight with as a caramel. However, I figure now is a good a time as any to go ahead and run northward as Biff says, the whole sky north of here is pitch black with smoke. Which, you know, is bad. Speaking of Biff... I think I'll take the time to introduce everyone since playing is hard when people suddenly keep wanting you to do things. Which is also meaning the actual gameplay portion of this post shorter than I wanted, but, well, sorry. I wanted more too. His height gives him the capability to clang the town bell during the current emergency with ease. Sorta superstitious, wanting you to stop by the sanctuary before running into the forest, but he's alright. He's having trouble forming words under distress right now. "Th-th-the Sunshine Fire! It's on forest! No, wait! The Funshine Sorest is on tire!!" Naturally there's more, but they can be done later. I just got the chance to do more playing, and since it's raining I can't even post this. Maybe I can do character updates throughout the game until I get everyone. In any case, I get the map from Mapson and Lighter's cabin in the woods (you can see him up there in the first screenshots) is marked. To use maps, it seems one needs to fill their right index finger with a wish. Or, more bluntly, press something R-Button-ish. Anyway, after visiting the sanctuary, it's time to run into the inferno! I THOUGHT I saw someone as manly as me walking this way. This smoke is terrible, and with my sensitive throat, I can't continue any further. So you can have this cookie instead. Let this slightly unclean and not very tasty cookie be of use..... Please, let it be of use. Anyway, off into the forest and a Bat-tle that is easily won. Poor Abbey is suffering a bite to the head from a flying mouse right now, but she's okay. Did you see anything else in the fire besides those weird bugs? I'm talking about some... suspicious people with pig-like masks on. Those bastards... They turned the forest pitch black! And you, Flint! You wound up pitch black, too. Fuel You should get some rest now, Dad. Lighter Oh, yeah! You were pitch black, too, Fuel. Fuel Come on, Dad. You really need to rest now. I have the first bits of it jotted down in notepad, but we got more rain today and people are over and all sorts of other things people wouldn't care about so the wrapping up of the first chapter may have to wait until later tonight. However, any other players that are interested in taking a chapter (or just part of one) can speak up. Whenever your chapter rolls around you can just get the save state, provided you're still free to do it, and get to typing and screenshot snapping like crazy. The only chapter that I can't just hand out is six, because I have a ton of art that could be used for that. |

It is possible that until now, the people of Tazmily Village had never known sadness. On sunny days and on cloudy days, they always greeted each other with smiles. They lived in harmony with the creatures of the forest. The strong would help the weak, and those who had would share with those who had not. However, it now appears the villagers have learned all too much about sadness. Suddenly, everything is changing for the worse... When did this change begin? Where did it begin? What set it in motion, and why? Almost as if toys, the peaceful animals are being transformed into strange, ferocious, creatures that attack people. Some people, like Flint, have even had their families torn apart. Just what is this suspicious group that wears pig masks? What are these eerie objects that soar through the once-beautiful skies? Man, you plowed right through that. I'm kinda busy until Tuesday night so maybe I should take another chapter instead. Your call, of course.
Edit: Wait, if you PM me the save state I won't have to play through Chapter 1 so it'll be ok. I can fit Chapter 2 into my schedule, I just wouldn't be able to if I had to get there first. |

Since I've gotten the okay about potential double, triple, or whatever postings for when I'm doing this I'll take it as read that I can double post in here whenever I feel like it in order to provide more character introductions. Of course, with limited saves to work from I can't quite get everything, but I can get some ideas from the guide book.

Most of the time I see her she's with her grandfather Scamp, who got the name as a kid and I don't have a picture of apparently. Scamp can't even get out of bed he's so old... Remember when this happened? Maybe you should go back and reread some things if you don't. Anyway chronologically we're back to that point again. The story shifts it's focus and now we'll follow Duster. Flint ...Duster... thanks. And so we officially begin: We fast-forward to later in the night as Duster gets home. I hoped the time WOULDN'T come, if at all possible. But you and I have been constantly preparing for this day, in the event it did come. So it appears you finally have a chance to try out what I've taught you. The enemy's form is still unknown. But we must now change the way we live. Are you prepared!? ... No. Wess Duster... Perhaps we would have been better off born in a different era. I forced excessive training upon you at a very young age, resulting in your leg handicap... Or at least that's my vague recollection of it. Then there's the fact that I failed to to raise you to fit in with the other villagers... It's all my fault... or so I seem to remember. If you want to hold a grudge against your father, grudge away. If that'll make you happy, you can begrudge me all you want. But... you don't get a choice in this matter. Duster! Listen well! This is not a test or anything of the sort. This is an order. If a thief can't determine the value of what he steals, he's a disgrace to the profession. Still, would you like to know a little about it? ... No. Wess Come on, now! You need to be more inquisitive! I was just about to give you a hint and everything! Want to hear it? ... Yes. The Seven Mystical Thief Tools. No, wait, were there seven? Well, whatever. Take them with you. They will prove useful during your battles with the enemy. Hidden inside the castle is a treasure with the power to change the fate of the world. Back when the King of Osohe still lived in the castle... ...Yes, I believe that's when it was. Anyway, back then, I hid this treasure where no one would ever lay eyes upon it. I felt it was too much for even the King of Osohe to handle... or so I recall, anyway. But the as-of-yet-unknown enemy may be trying to acquire it. Under normal circumstances, this would be a job that calls for me, but... Duster... I feel confident that I've hammered every technique I know into you. So try to accomplish this mission by yourself. Understand!? When you go outside, check behind the house. I've hidden another Mystical Thief Tool-like item there. Why did I hide them all separately like that...? That's what I'D like to know! I refill the box every once in a while when I feel so inclined, so always keep that in mind. Did you get all that? Well, it was a lot to say but I guess it's pretty important right now. The basement has 5 boxes conveniently wrapped up and inside are those Thief Tools Wess was talking about. Let's grab 'em! [Duster opened the presents. Duster got a Hypno-Pendulum, a Tickle Stick, a Scary Mask, a Smoke Bomb, and a Siren Beetle!] I guess it's really just five, six if you include the Wall Staples (which you should!). Only catch is you can only use a thunder bomb once, while the other tools you can use all you want. I guess we'll have to keep checking back here to get some more. Mapson is up for whatever reason and enjoying the night sky, or maybe the river. I can't tell cuz he wears sunglasses. Anyway he's cool enough t mark Osohe Castle on the map for me, but he mentioned the drawbridge is up.

You know, like "boom boom boo-boom boom, boom boom" and stuff! When you're in battle, there's a very specific rhythm that matches the enemy's beat! Pick up on that rhythm, and victory will be yours! If you're really good, you can pull off 16-hit combos! I hearby name these "Sound Battles"! Thant you very mantch! A helpful hint from our friend, an ant. Where was I? Let's head back.
