私は料理人のユバ。二日前、孫娘のマイに頼まれて料理を教え始めたけど、
コンテストの優勝なんて、とうてい無理な話さね、
もう長いことオカリナ亭の料理長をしてるけど、
あんたほど不器用な子は見たことないからね。

ただ、本人にはそんなこと言っても聞きやしない。
レシピ通りには作れないし、ボーッとしてすぐに料理をこがしちまう。

マイに料理を教え始めて１週間。まったく進歩の無い孫娘のいたらなさを、
セラフさんとのお茶会でこぼしていたときだったかね。
セラフさんは私の話を一通り聞き終わった後、にっこり笑ってこう言ったんだよ。

弟子のチハヤが私たちの様子をみていて、相談をしてきたの。

「僕が教えますよ。これ以上、ユバさんの手をわずらわせても時間の無駄です。
あいつには、無理だってわからせてやればいいんですよ。」

私だってね、できれば孫娘に料理がちゃんとできる子になってほしいよ。
だけどね、才能がないこともあるのさ。
あの時の私はちょっと疲れていたのかもしれなくてね。
けっきょく、チハヤにまかせてみることにしたんだよ。

それから数日後、厨房の二人の様子を覗くと、マイの大声が聞こえてきたんだ。
「チハヤの言うとおりに作ったのに～。チハヤのバカーーー！！！」

あら、またケンカをしてしまったようだね。
チハヤも人づきあいがうまいほうじゃないからね。

「僕はこんな風に作れなんて言ってないぞ！？
だいたい君、料理苦手なくせに、なんでコンテストに出るとか言うの。」

「ぅわあああああ～ん。優勝したら、す…好きな人に食べてもらうんだもん！
告白するんだもん！」

おやまあ…そんなたいそうな理由があったなんて。
チハヤも黙り込んでしまったね。態度は冷たいけど、あれは困っている顔だよ。

「…ふん、マイ…君さ、ホットケーキ初めて作った時、思い出しなよ。」

マイは泣きやんで、チハヤの話に耳をかたむけた。

「ユバさんが落ち込んでるのを励まそうとして作ったって、マイ、言ってただろ？

「チハヤ…。」

「勘違いしないでよね。僕は誰かのためになんて料理は作れない。
けど、君は作れるだろ？そういう料理がさ。
食べて元気になってほしい人がいるから作るんだろ？」

あらあら、チハヤらしくもないセリフ。本人も柄にもないこと言っちゃって真っ赤だよ。
年寄りはこのへんで退散しようかね。
いつのまにか、私の弟子も頼もしくなったようだねえ。



料理コンテストの日。優勝はやっぱりマイではなくてチハヤだったの。
私はマイの料理も、チハヤの料理も審査したけれど、実力の差は歴然。
でもね、マイのオムライスは、きれいなお日様のような卵が乗っていて、
素朴なあったかい味がしたの。きっと、誰かのためにとてもていねいに作ったのね。

マイは特訓のかいもなく、今でもとても料理が下手だけれども、
それでもいいのかもしれないわ。大事なことをひとつ覚えたと思うの。
いいえ、チハヤがあの子にちゃんと気づかせてくれたのね。
私は、優しくてかわいい孫娘と、頼もしい弟子に恵まれて、とっても幸せな気分なの。
そうね、今日もセラフさんとお茶でもしようかねえ。

The children walk uneasily through the dark forest, keeping a close eye on their surroundings.

Mao "...didn't we pass through here before?"

Everyone leaves behind the peaceful image of the Tam Tam Forest as the sun begins to set in the sky.

Within the pitch-dark forest, the Wizard and Witch quietly approach each other.

Wizard "......You could have handed it over yourself."
Witch "I was thinking about it, but they ran away!"
Wizard "......Probably because you took all of their landmarks."
Witch "I just thought it was unusual, so I couldn't help it... I had no clue those kids put them there! That's why I went through all that trouble bring a cake to say sorry... Geez! I'm going home!"

The Witch casts down her lonesome eyes and runs away shouting.

Wizard ".........Good grief."

The Wizard quietly mutters to himself with a faint smile, taking in the surroundings of the forest. He sighed with a mixed emotion, figuring it was his duty to make amends for all the trouble the Witch caused.

I Have set myself the challenge of finishing the purple bell before fall year one, and I am now on Summer 27 (I am being really slow and have school work coming out of my ears), one day to go and I only need one more person... AND IT ISN'T FAIR BECAUSE I HAVE LIKE 10 ON 2 HEARTS T_T... I am praying one of them likes me more or else I will lose self-respect for myself.

that's right. from what I've gathered, if you let your spouse pick the child will 100% look like them. if you pick I think its somewhere around 50/50 chance.

I think this was asked... Your spouse will ask if you want to have children when they reach 16 hearts (you will have 12-13 once you get married). I haven't gotten to my second child yet so I'm not sure on that one. :p

I'm really not sure how I want my kids to look. I don't really like the youngest daughter but I like the look of the older boy. That'll make deciding difficult. I'm not close to marriage yet though. I still want to do the green bell at least. Plus I need money, wood, and lumber for upgrades. Also on the wiki there's a nice picture of Mai's daughters:

I hadn't seen them yet. I don't think I've seen a clear picture of Lina's kids either. Also Mai's older daughter reminds me of Lilo from Lilo & Stitch but with orange hair. I guess it's because of the outfit.
