Yes, your game does end. You get a cut-scene about how you and Jamie left the town to get a bigger farm, or something like that, and then a hint like you two are coming back for a festival in the town. Very strange. I was glad I didn't save my game after giving Jamie the blue feather. I cheat and do stuff like that a lot...I've married every single single (and had a kid) in the HMs I have that way. How else do you know if their really nice or not? Just look at Gil in ToT.
