Good evening everyone who still lurks here!
While discussing the forum coming to a close on Ranch Story's discord, which you can still join via the main page of the forum, we lamented how the archival features of the message board were somewhat lacking. So, to mitigate that, we came up with a new, final forum event: RS Historia. Simply dig up a favorite post out of any thread and quote it here, post pictures from our Gallery, or anything else that comes to mind. Hopefully this will make it easier to archive everyone's memories, as well as give a singular place for places like Archive.org to contain a more permanent record of our last thoughts on the place. Personally, one of the fondest memories I'll have is probably of Harvest. A friendly user who didn't have English as their first language, sometimes difficult to understand, but we all loved just the same. Valentine's Day 2016 chocolate cream good a boyfriend. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lalasmile.gif) Hope you're having a good time out there, Harvest! |

There are really too many memories for me to pick one favorite. I could dig through quotes and old posts for hours and still not find the perfect quote to leave off with. So instead, I'll talk about what this forum has given me. I first joined when I was 19. I'll be 29 next month. I came here looking for information on the Japanese version of Grand Bazaar, and oddly enough, at the time, this place was the only one who had anything on it. Not even Fogu had a fully functioning page for it yet. At first, I was just here for a little information, but then I ventured out into the forum proper and this place became my home on the internet for the next ten years. I met pretty much all of the online friends that I actually stay in contact with on this site. I still talk to some of them every single day. I played games here that I'd never considered wanting to play, I joined gift exchanges (which I am super bad at unless it's involving real gifts that I can mail people), I had conversations that I will probably never forget, I learned things that broadened my horizons and really made me understand who I am and what I want. When the forum had its very first death scare, those of us who were left created a skype to talk more frequently. Eventually we created a discord and moved over to that. (And yes, I am still stubborn and use skype as well.) Even if this place and all of the memories it holds disappear, we're still a community. We still exist. And that - the fact that we still WANT to be a community after all of this time and all of these moves in a changing landscape - is probably the best gift that I could've gotten after joining so many years ago.
Much love to this forum and to everyone, Mizuki |
