Yesterday evening, I was preparing dinner which included some variety of hot pepper. Thinking nothing of it, I cut the peppers with my bare hands; minced finely and put into the dish we were having.

12 hours later, I woke up fine as you please and took a shower to start the day. Some time after that, my hands began to burn very painfully. Moving the fingers would provide a little relief, and soaking them in water also provided some temporary relief, but within a minute of removing them the temperature would go right back up.

Not knowing what to do, I turned to the internet and found one of those web forums only old people use (you know the ones), where the topic was hot pepper burns. I read the entire thing, and tried some of the suggestions but one in particular stood out more than the others despite being recommended by one person, and not responded to; hot water. While everyone suggested milk-based mucous substances (like yogurt, and sour cream) this one suggested placing your hands under as hot a water as you can endure, the idea to let the pores on your skin open wide to allow the chemical causing the burns to escape. After 3 very hot sets of water soaking, the pain is almost entirely gone.

This is not the first time where I've been so stumped I didn't know what to do, and the internet helped me out. What other saves have the net provided you?

Hmm...the internet has saved me from many depressing times.
Especially when I was younger and had to deal with lots of family issues...
