Not sure if there's a topic on reading already, but I'll make the assumption that there isn't.
How often do you read? What was the last book you read? Any great suggestions? I've gotten into reading recently which is quite new to me. I used to really hate it because no books really interested me. I found most of what was around was fantasy which I simply did not care for. However, I've always been into writing and felt it was a necessity that I start reading - if not just to pick up on new skills. So I decided to pick up The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy which I had purchased about two years ago and never finished. For the past three days I've done at least an hour of reading every night, and have just finished reading the book. Quite an accomplishment for me so now I'm on a bit of a high. I intend to read the read the next book in the series, The Restaurant at the End of the Universe. I will likely go pick it up the next time I visit Chapters. Your turn. Go! |

I think I made a topic similar to this but I can't remember now.
I try to read everyday, and have always loved reading. I always kept it a secret because when you're younger, you're a complete loser if you like to read. The book I'm reading right now is Dexter by Design by Jess Lindsey. It's the fourth book in the series {which is what the tv show is based off of}. I got to the end of the second chapter and had to stop reading it for a few days because it freaked the utter sh-t out of me. After the first book in the series it becomes nothing like the show, which is why I kept reading them. I have waay to many favourite books to choose a few but like most people, I loved Harry Potter. Some books I've read recently that I liked a lot have been Shutter Island {which was soo great but sooo sad}, The Rule of Four {very amazing! take the Da Vinci Code and multiply it's awesomeness by 50}, and the Outstanding Adventures of the Hunt Sisters {which I read over a year ago but I still love it} The Outstanding Adventures of the Hunt Sisters, is written all in letter form, but only the letters from the main character, you never see the returning letters yet somehow you get to know the other characters very well. It's about a woman who finds out her sister has leukemia and she's trying to produce Don Quixote... Anyways, I HIGHlY reccomend all three of those books. Edit - I loved To Kill a Mockingbird! I'm glad to hear other people enjoy it when all you ever hear of it books that get ruined by having to read them in class. |
