Hey guys here is where you can discuss what you think the next Harvest Moon should be like. The characters, the village, etc.

Two generations, totally. Where you can start over as your kid, but instead of going to the same island again like in ToT's New Game+, the other village kids age up and become the starting set of candidates, and more people keep moving to the town.
Kinda like AWL, but with non-suckish farming mechanics (truer to the classic style. Actually, AP's farming mechanics are pretty much fantastic. But with a pasture like in ToT, where the animals will actually autonomously eat the grass. That's the one reason I don't like keeping livestock in AP.) Well, I guess what I'm thinking is not like, the chapter-thing, but activated in the manner of a NG+ in ToT and AP, except your kid doesn't leave. As soon as your kid would grow up, you could start the next generation whenever you wanted. Which would eliminate the need to go through ANOTHER ROUND OF TUTORIALS, 'cause your kid grew up on a farm and SHOULD know how things work. Or you could choose not to start over as your kid, have them stop aging at their teenage years, and have them frolic off and flirt with whatever rival kid tickles their (I.e. your) fancy. But everyone ages up separately, unlike AWL. I didn't like AWL. I don't want it to be too much like it. (There were SO too few characters in that game.) More events, so the game doesn't start going stale. More things to do after marriage, too. Character customization is always nice. Even if it's something so minor as hair and eye color, and of course clothing customization. No major slide-for-rotation-of-nose-bridge customization, just hair and eye color would be fine. And hairstyle. And I wanna style my kids' hair. I wanted two long-haired kids in AP. And that extends to genetics; the kid has a chance of getting my hair color or the spouse's hair color, and same goes for eyes. Really, though. I mean a full-blown gay option. As in, when I play as a girl, I wanna be able to marry a girl. But there's no way it's going to make it into an E-rated game. Hmph. I'd settle for "Best Friends," then. But all that's probably too much for the Wii to handle. >> Or for the programmers to handle. I'unno. But it seems like it would take up a lot of space. |

I'm not gay myself, but I do think it's a bit unfair to gay players to basically force them to play as a straight character when the character is supposed to represent the player. |

I'd definitely like more things to do after marriage - things that can only be triggered by being married. Having said that, I'd also prefer that there be certain events you can only unlock by remaining single or by dating multiple guys or girls - give it a bit more variety and replay value, and I'd also prefer that you have a choice in whether or not you decide to have children, and how many.
Of course, the programming on that might not be so easy - it could be a lot more complex than it sounds. But games are making incredible advances these days, so I'm certain it could eventually get done. I also want gradual season changes, like in A Wonderful Life, as well as similar graphics - running around the town in a 360-degree 3-D view, giving you a better idea of the views from different points in the area. I also want them to continue branching off the heart events by the choices you make, like they did in Island of Happiness - where each answer could lead to different heart events. Again, it adds variety. I also want certain things to not be so insanely time-consuming/difficult to unlock - like the flour/soybeans/mushrooms/et cetera in Island of Happiness. And no sub-villagers, and no more of that "If you ignore the villagers, they leave" stuff. Too co-dependent and creepy. And, of course, balance in how you choose to make money - I want some sort of equal footing between fishing, mining, foraging, farming, and ranching. I also wouldn't mind seeing different events or possibilities unlocked by which paths you choose to follow in making money. (I do realize that I'm asking a lot, though.) Agreed. There shouldn't be anymore of that kind of discrimination. I'm not gay myself, but I do think it's a bit unfair to gay players to basically force them to play as a straight character when the character is supposed to represent the player. I hear you there. I am gay, myself (although I don't terribly mind playing as a guy and marrying a girl in these games when it's the only option - helk, on Magical Melody and Island of Happiness, I have separate boy and girl files), but the closest I can get in here is by playing as a girl (when the option's available) and marrying a dude... and no offense to girls or anything, but... I am a guy, and I'd prefer to play as one while pursuing the others. |
