According to PokeBeach.com there's significant reason to now believe that there is a new collection of Pokemon to be announced soon :D Perhaps come the next movie we'll be seeing some new ones. They just love to keep making more, don't they?

Well, I would not mind another generation of Pokemon if they can come up with something creative. There are loads of interesting Digimon, so it should be possible to come up with some more good Pokemon. They just need to be more original, like how they were when they did generation three.
I was going over the generations recently, wondering how original each one was. Obviously, the first was the most original because it was the first. After that in terms of originality is generation three, it has only TWO Pokemon that are pre-evolutions of previous Pokemon. Then it's generation two, it's a nice mix of completely new and a few new evolutions. And last place goes to generation four, which is nearly all pre-evolutions and post-evolutions - BORING! So, I think Pokemon would be really well off if they could pull off another generation three. I love memorizing new names and attacks and exploring new regions. I would love to see another generation. But I'm hoping more for remakes of Ruby & Sapphire and FireRed & LeafGreen. I want to be able to play all four generations on the DS . . . or at least on the same console. -_-; |

Yeah, but Digimon in general has a lot more leeway for designs since they can be cute, scary and/or grotesque, or very humanlike, to flat-out manifestations of angelic and demonic mythos, while Pokemon all have to be more or less cutesy. I think that's why Digimon has much more interesting designs while still having over 1000 different monsters, more than twice of what Pokemon has. The rules/hierarchy for evolution and the kind of world Digimon live in also make it very different. Anyway, I don't have any desire for new Pokemon. Personally the new designs after Gen 2 seemed lackluster to me, like they're running out of ideas. Magikarp > Feebas |

Personally the new designs after Gen 2 seemed lackluster to me, like they're running out of ideas. Yes! That is EXACTLY how I feel! Personally, I was okay with most of Gen 3's Pokemon. Gen 4 is where it started really sucking, since over half of them are 100% pointless new ways to screw around with classic designs or stuff that looks like it's from a different series entirely. It also feels like they're trying to turn everything in existance into a Pokemon. Like they pointed out in $upah NiN10D'oh!... Male trainer: "Okay, let's see, we've got every natural and manmade element, light, darkness, nature itself, life, death... I think we've covered just about everything." Dawn: "Only one place left to go... We go for GOD!" Male trainer: "Oh, no, we got that one too." Dawn: "Oh." Satoshi Tajiri: "...FFFFFFFFF***!" |
