After a lot of talk and complaints I've been seeing, I believe we should instill a minimum level of quality regarding spelling and grammar. The most of us do use proper language on this forum, so I'm not going to say we're a cesspit of poor posts. However, there's a problem when understanding what someone has written is near impossible. I acknowledge typos occur. I'm certainly not suggesting we be Grammar Nazis either. But I and a few others are tired of seeing worthless, incomprehensible posts.
So please take the time to check your spelling and grammar before you post. Warnings may start going out to those who repeatedly offend spelling and grammar without any effort to improve. If your post looks like garbage, reads like garbage, then it will be treated as garbage. Questions? Comments? I believe this action to be reasonable. |

Yeah... I was looking through my last critical reading portfolio for Billy Budd, Sailor... I made a 100 on it, but I started reading it and found it was riddled with mispelled homophones. I kind of rushed on it because I procrastinated... Of course, I'm critical about such things, and by 'riddled' I mean around 5-6 mistakes in a 9 page CRP... Also, I don't think my English teacher reads my CRPs any more. Especially since my last two CRPs were 12 pages long... And the fact I realized I left out the Themes section for Jane Erye (le gasp, right? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lalaexdee.gif) ) and made a 100 on it...
But still, stupid grammar mistakes make me feel like an idiot whether anyone spots them or not. |
