o-o I don't get it...:\ *is naïve* I think they'll change all the names just because they feel they have to. I mean seriously -- they changed Gil's name to GilL. Really, Natsume, really? That reminds me, is Gill's name pronounced like gill, like a fishie has? Or like Jill? Because I always pronounced it Jill, and then I saw some show where a character's name was Gill like gill. :\ I'm so confuuuuused! My milkshake brings all the boys to the yard, and they're like, I HATE THIS SONG. o_o I heard it the other day, too... just when I thought it was dead. If we're getting technical, Gil's name in the Japanese version was Giru. It could've been romanized either way, I suppose, it's just that Natsume went in the opposite direction of the fandom (as per usual). Fin, on the other hand, is literally romanized as Fin, but Natsume felt the need to throw the extra 'n' in there and make it Finn. It is pronounced "Gill," with a hard 'g' sound, like with a fish. In Japanese, it's written as a softened "Ki," and not a softened "Shi" (which is "ji," just to throw us all off.) Plus, Jill is Pony, as far as I'm concerned. |
