Hey!
I was just wondering, how many people on here actually have jobs? If you do, then post what your job is and any other info about it! Like, are you happy, how much you get paid, how you got it, etc. |

The History of Peter's Employment!
Delivering Newspapers (Pittsburgh Post Gazette) (Age:13-16) - This job SUCKED. You woke up at 1AM, to put the papers in the little green baggies, and then delivered them to the houses. People were picky as all get out too! Most wanted it on their porch, some wanted it on their roof, and then there were the weird ones where you had to like crawl to the back of the house and stick it under their steps or something, next to the creepy gargoyle. I got paid pennies too ($50 bucks a month), it wasn't worth it at all. :( Wendy's (Age 16-18) - Oh Saffy, I'm so sorry you had to deal with this crap too. You're absolutely right, the people you worked with could be a lot of fun, but the management! They were so disorganized and crazy about everything. It was just awful. This is one job I'll never ever try and get rehired at. Well, unless I absolutely had no other options. Got paid about $6.00-$6.35 per hour here, and did everything from registers to cooking. Hollywood Video (Age: 17-19) - This job wasn't so bad, it was just always so slow. I'm the kind of guy that needs to keep busy, but I was always caught up on my work here. It was horrid. But it was a movie rental place, so what did I expect? By the time I worked here, things like NetFlix and what have you were becoming increasingly popular, so people didn't want to physically rent their movies anymore. I was paid about $6.50 an hour here. Progressive Cleaning Solutions (Age 18-20) - This job paid well, but it was slavery I tell you. Cleaning toilets and mopping floors mostly. Granted it was in commercial buildings, such as doctor's offices and such, but still. Toilets?! Ugh. Needless to say, I'm a very neat person now, and can't stand the sight of dirt. Haha. I was paid about $650 a month. EB Games/Gamestop (Age: 19-22) - By far my favorite job, and not for the obvious reason. My manager and I had become really good friends, and he is seriously one of the most wonderful people I know. He and I still talk on occasion, and he invites me to his cookouts. He's an amazing chef. Haha. But the job was retail, so I soldgames. I got paid $7.15 an hour here. Residence Inn Marriot (Only a few months while being 21) - This place was horrid. I was a houseman, so I cleaned the halls and exterior of the hotels. It was awful. They treated me like crap, and expected me to cover other peoples dirty work when they didn't feel like doing it. Thanks to them, I have a bitter taste about hotels. I got paid $8.50 an hour though, which wasn't all that bad at the time. The Home Depot (21-Current) - And now I'm here. I love THD greatly. There are still issues, but you'll have that with each job. You can't really get around it, no matter how hard you try, you know? This job entails of me pushing the shopping carts back into the building, and helping people load stuff into their vehicle if it's too heavy for them alone. I'm actually in the process of working towards a promotion, so here's hoping to that. My current pay is $9.75 an hour, which calculates to about $580 every two weeks. If you're looking for a stable job and don't mind some grunt work, I would recommend THD to everyone. They have awesome benefits plans too, for those of you looking to invenst in a 401K or live on your own and need health benefits. Now, some of these jobs I worked two at a time. I needed to always make my ends meet and then some. Haha. (At one point I had three jobs. It was nuts.) But there you have it. My employment history. I tried applying to Square-Enix, but they must hate me for buying all their games. Heh. |
