The concept was brought up, and I decided I could do it easily enough since I got the guide. I'm still playing RFF and Klonoa's coming out soon, but again, the guide. Hopefully it won't be too tough to stick to. Also, the reason this isn't in the other "Let's all play Mother" topic is because I'm still in the middle of the first game on there. Anyway... let's meet the family.

Hinawa

The gentle and protective mother who's currently tending to the twins while Flint takes care of the livestock back home.

Flint
Father and loving husband, Flint is quiet and reliable.

Lucas

A bit of a weakling to be sure, but a kind and gentle boy.

Claus

Unlike Lucas, Claus is energetic and out going, though he's still a good kid.

Boney

Though far from a vicious protector, Boney is still a dedicated and lovable family pet.

Dear Flint,

Just like you said they would, the children have been running around the mountains and fields tirelessly since the moment we arrived.

Claus is as daring and full of energy as ever, while Lucas is still a bit coddled. But neither one seems tired of playing at all.

My father seems sad to say goodbye to his grandchildren after seeing them for the first time in so long, but we should be home by this evening.

I had forgotten how nice and refreshing the mountain air is. You're always covered in smell of sheep back in Tazmily village, so I really wish you could be here to take in this air.

The next time we visit, let's ask one of the neighbors to tend to the sheep so we can all come up here as a family.

Claus, Lucas, and I were always thinking about you. When we get home this evening, I'll start cooking some of your favorite Omelets right away.

Listen! The time has come... No, this is not something we have been looking forward to. I hoped the time WOULDN'T come, if at all possible. But you and I have been constantly preparing for this day, in the event it did come. So it appears you finally have a chance to try out what I've taught you. The enemy's form is still unknown. But we must now change the way we live. Are you prepared!?

Duster... Perhaps we would have been better off born in a different era. I forced excessive training upon you at a very young age, resulting in your leg handicap... Or at least that's my vague recollection of it. Then there's the fact that I failed to to raise you to fit in with the other villagers... It's all my fault... or so I seem to remember. If you want to hold a grudge against your father, grudge away. If that'll make you happy, you can begrudge me all you want. But... you don't get a choice in this matter. Duster! Listen well! This is not a test or anything of the sort. This is an order.

You will sneak into Osohe Castle. There, you will find a "certain important item" and bring it back here. As for what that "certain important item" is... No... There is no need for me to tell you. If a thief can't determine the value of what he steals, he's a disgrace to the profession. Still, would you like to know a little about it?

Come on, now! You need to be more inquisitive! I was just about to give you a hint and everything! Want to hear it?

In the basement, you will find items I've prepared for you. The Seven Mystical Thief Tools. No, wait, were there seven? Well, whatever. Take them with you. They will prove useful during your battles with the enemy. Hidden inside the castle is a treasure with the power to change the fate of the world. Back when the King of Osohe still lived in the castle... ...Yes, I believe that's when it was. Anyway, back then, I hid this treasure where no one would ever lay eyes upon it. I felt it was too much for even the King of Osohe to handle... or so I recall, anyway. But the as-of-yet-unknown enemy may be trying to acquire it. Under normal circumstances, this would be a job that calls for me, but... Duster... I feel confident that I've hammered every technique I know into you. So try to accomplish this mission by yourself. Understand!? When you go outside, check behind the house. I've hidden another Mystical Thief Tool-like item there. Why did I hide them all separately like that...? That's what I'D like to know! I refill the box every once in a while when I feel so inclined, so always keep that in mind.

Did you get all that? Well, it was a lot to say but I guess it's pretty important right now. The basement has 5 boxes conveniently wrapped up and inside are those Thief Tools Wess was talking about. Let's grab 'em!

[Duster opened the presents. Duster got a Hypno-Pendulum, a Tickle Stick, a Scary Mask, a Smoke Bomb, and a Siren Beetle!]

I guess it's really just five, six if you include the Wall Staples (which you should!). Let's check behind the house, too.

That sounds pretty awesome. Only catch is you can only use a thunder bomb once, while the other tools you can use all you want. I guess we'll have to keep checking back here to get some more. Anyway, did you notice how late it is? I guess this is the perfect time to be breaking into a castle. Let's do a little looking around town before we get busy.
