I think this is the only way to get a ores in this game, other than buy it from people.
I tried this mini game already, its quite easy after you know what to do :)

And playing this game ( OR you can say it PART TIME JOB) you can earn 500G+ some limestone!!!!
A lot more than PT in Kazan (BOB)'s ranch -100G + Milk , or Martha's -50G

So you get money when you play this game,so its mining,but you have to do the mini-game to mine? Am I correct?
