Decided that wanted to write a fanfic because was bored. This is about the main character girl in Tree of Tranquility. :) Have fun.

------------------------------------------------------

"Evie, love, please get up! Today you're moving to the island!" My mother's reedy voice rang from under me. You may ask why I have said this, because I was supposed to be asleep. Well, the truth was that I wasn't asleep. Too bad. I'd had second thoughts about moving to the island. At least, that's what we called it now. Of course, after my mom and dad had seen the brochure, they'd been absolutely ecstatic about me going to the island, and working my butt off. They called it "making my fortune". At first I'd been completely convinced that they hated me and were getting rid of me, until I saw the brochure.

It was beautiful. From what I'd seen, the fields were green, and it was surrounded by the sea, along with streams and beautiful rivers in the island. There were forests, mines, and farms, all available for living. I had decided that I wanted to go there. We already lived in the countryside, and owned a farm ourselves and were extremely wealthy. My mother and father believed strictly in independence, peace, and freedoms. Both their moms and dads (my grandparents) had all been missionaries.

But, back to the subject. I had not expected to be afraid of going to the island, because it had seemed so beautiful from the brochures. Of course, now I had serious doubts because, suddenly I was already missing my parents. Better get over that, though.

I climbed out of bed groggily before slipping on a pair of light blue shorts and a green sweater-ish shirt. I walked into my bathroom and picked up a comb, blinking blearily, then combed my mop of brown hair carefully. After, I washed my face, brushed my teeth, and put on some lotion and stared into the mirror. The person staring at me had short brown hair that barely brushed past her shoulders and topaz colored eyes. Her figure was slightly curvy, and she had a kind face. Overall, she was normal. Yes, I was ordinary. I wasn't overly pretty, nor was I overly ugly. I wasn't overly intelligent, but I definitely wasn't stupid. I was always in the middle.

Groaning, the face turned away and disappeared from the mirror's face. I traipsed down the stairs, my thoughts a big jumbled mess of goodbyes and new people. My mother was in the kitchen, fixing up some miracle as usual. She glanced over at me. "Oh, love, you've finally gotten up. You do realize that the boat is leaving in an hour, darling? You have to eat, and bring some sushi with you on the boat. We have to make sure that you don't get hungry during the trip." Typical mom: already rambling. She was a plump woman, but extremely kind and nice, though she could have a temper when stressed. My mom placed a plate of omelets on the table and made sure I started to eat before talking.

"Oh, darling, you're father left early this morning. He had some sort of business to deal with in the farm. I'm so sorry, darling." She said, her voice sounding pitiful. I froze. MY FATHER HAD LEFT!?! This was the day when he was never to see me again in an extremely long time, and he left?!? I growled under my breath and glared at the remains of the omelet, wishing it to burn under my laser gaze.

My mother sighed and said, "I believe it's completely unfair as well. Your father leaving on the day your leaving? It's horrible. I tried to convince him to stay, but he said it was a very important deal and couldn't be missed." She brightened up visibly. "Oh, well! Never mind worrying over milk that's already been spilled! We'll just have a wonderful day today, yeah?" She glanced towards me, and I nodded automatically.

"Wonderful! Now finish up that omelet and we can go. I have the car today." She bustled around and started packing items into my bag, and getting ready for the island.

I finished as quickly as possible. Might as well get this over with. As soon as my mother had seen this, she smiled and said, "Fantastic! Now we'll be on our way, yes." Then I was dragged unwillingly into the car (my mom was holding the supplies) and driven to our dock. The entire time, I stared out the window, expressionless.

As soon as I stepped out of the car, she led me to a small boat with two floors, where an old man with a pipe stood. His face was stretched in a permanently warm smile that was real, from what I could see. "Pascal", he said, before shaking my hand. "Captain Pascal," he then stepped into the boat. "I expect you will want to say your partings, yeah?" was his brief farewell. My mother stared after him for a second, then started to cry.

Her words were faint beneath her constant sobs, but what I could decipher was:

"Have...happy...time...father...stupid...love...you...nice...man.."

But I understood. She would miss me. She loved me. That was all I had wanted to hear. I hugged her tight and cried, "Love you too, mom!", before stepping onto my ride. My future...

TO BE CONTINUED (if wanted)

So what do y'all think? I welcome reviews and critiques... so... I'm planning on becoming an author too so I suppose I'd better start early. Hope you guys like it so far!

Thanks,
