Alright, kiddos.
FF. Is this awesome? y/n What is your favorite FF game? (What are they even at now, like 13 or something crazy?) My favorite is number 5, with Mr. Butz. Definitely a classic. Job classes for the win! Then of course there is 7(classic), I didn't like 8 or 9, and I loved 10. Anything before 5 I wasn't actually a fan of. I just couldn't get into it (although I haven't tried THAT hard.) |

The fun in Tactics is it's very customizable, in that you can make your own characters and it uses a job system similar to 5's. There are scenes where you have decisions and have to say the right things, too, but they're not like tricks or anything like in some Final Fantasies (that is, what seems like the obvious right answer causes you to miss out on something awesome, more commonly seen in later games). The game itself, when you understand it, can be fairly simple, though it's flexibility allows for you to make challenges for yourself.
For example, last time I played, my brother was the main character, I was a random dude, and we had 2 other random dudes, left on the most basic job and auto-fight. The rule me and my brother set was that me and him could only use stuff from 2 jobs each (out of like, 21 jobs), and those other 2 would remain their basic, poor AI selves. Furthermore, we "failed" if they died, so pretty much the whole game was trying to stop our retarded teammates from killing themselves, often getting ourselves killed instead. There were a number of seemingly impossible fights that took a long time to beat. |
