Well since this is the book club, shouldn't it have something to do with books in it?

(it's a Mockingbird.)
Lord of the Flies made me cry the first time I read it, but then again I was five years old and I didn't want Piggy to die. Poor Piggy. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lalacry.gif) Animal Farm was great. It's a satire of the Russian Revolution and Communism in general. Old Major = Marx / Lenin Napoleon = Stalin Snowball = Trotsky Boxer = Loyal Russian workforce Squealer = Stalinist propaganda Ben the Donkey = George Orwell The humans = The Tsar and his family The pigs = Communist generals The puppies = Stalin's secret police The two neighbouring farms = England & Germany The farm = Russia The farmer's house = a farmer's house The book ends up with the pigs becoming human, literally. Scary. |
