OKay, I was playing HM animal Parade in my wii, like I normally do, and suddenly the tv goes black and says that there's an error and that I should remove the CD and turn off the console and read the manual. So, I turned it off and plugged it back on and the same thing happened, but this time it wasnt seeing the disk at all. First I thought it was the game, but it's new so there are no scratches on. To make sure, I put in another game and the same thing happened soooo I'm guessing that it must be the lens or something. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lalasad.gif)
If someone experienced something like this, please let me know how did you solve the problem. |

Hm. There seems to be a lot of this going around. At least three or four cases. I guess earlier Wiis are just starting to die now. Was the disc drive really loud when it was working? 'cause that's how mine went. I eventually just had Nintendo repair the thing and now it hums nice and soft-like.

It kind of made some sounds and then went black with the error on the screen, but I'm going to call nintendo and send it since that's what I've been reading in other support forums. I have a question though, did you paid something to get it fixed at the company?

Darth: Did all of your information get wiped when you got the new one, or did they somehow transfer the memory? |

I doubt he would have to pay to get Nintendo to fix it. It's not your fault it happened, it's most likely an error they made while making them. It's just like Xbox's, most people have to send theirs back because those are always failing.
Good luck. |

Guess again, I did have to pay for repair and it was 85US$, but they'll send the materiasl for me to send it though. I decided that I wasnt going to do anything to repaired it myself so I called the big boys at the company today and thats that lol.
Although, I dont know if théy'll wipe the memory because if they do all my hard farming and money earning work will go with it (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lalacry.gif) I hope they don't touch that part of mi wii ... This post has been edited by kionit: Mar 19 2010, 04:14 PM |

If they're fixing it then I doubt your memory will be touched, unless the memory part of the Wii is fried, then yes, you'll lose everything.
When did you buy this Wii? When my brother's xbox had to be sent away they sent him the box for it and a sticker so he didn't even have to pay for shipping. If you play your Wii alot, it may be super dusty inside and also won't help it's longevity. |

This wii, I believe, is from the very year that came into the market so yeah it's old. Also, it's my brother's wii so it was put away for almost a year because he has the PS3 now and I'm the one that is using it recently. By this, I bet that it's dusty and the lends needs to be clean or something.

A note for next time, Nintendo has a very good and very generous repair service. Often they fix things that are past the covered warranty period at no charge. If you tell the person on the service line that you've had many Nintendo systems before and that you've never had any problems, there's a decent probability that they'll waive the charge. Now I'm not talking from personal experience, but I've heard countless accounts.

They didn't touch my memory, because I told them the only problem was the disc drive. They just replaced it and sent it back.
Also, though you may not be able to get it free like some people have, when I told them I bought and tried the official disc cleaner first they knocked off ten bucks. They also knocked off some money for something else. I forget. But it ended up being much cheaper than 85 with just a quick bit of talk. |

Well I discussed this with my lil'bro and I am actually going to pay 40 for it and he'll put the other half so things arent that bad I guess. The only thing that's eating me now is the waiting that I have to do, but even so it'll get fixed.
