Hey guys, I've had the game for a little less than 24 hours now. I've beaten Ven's story, in which the second to last boss was MUCH more challenging than the final boss. Here's my little review.
First of all, it didn't really matter that the game was in Japanese. I pretty much knew the whole story, and even when I skipped cut scenes I could tell what was going on, and could tell where to go. As for the technique combo things, I could memorize the first couple characters of each spell/technique. So it was really easy to pick out things like strike raid and cure after a short while. In order of difficulty, Terra's story is somewhat the easiest. Terra is very overpowered, though lacking in speed and magic (Ven and Aqua's respective strengths.) Ven is second easiest, I suppose. I finished Ven's story first, though, because I enjoyed playing it the most. It sorta had the same feel of Kingdom Hearts I, II, and 358/2 combined, whereas Terra and Aqua felt like a whole new experience to me. Aqua's is the hardest for me. I played until I got her to level 3, with the combo levels being like, zero. And that's when I decided I would just go and play Ven's story instead. Aqua is pretty good with magic, but her strength is horrible. Towards the beginning, you're going to have trouble fighting the simplest Unversed. The controls are really fun. Better than 358/2. It was a bit confusing how O was attack, and X was jump/glide, resembling 358/2, but not resembling the PS2 games. It's easy to get used to, though. The shoulder buttons turn the camera left and right, and the analog stick moves you. Square button is used for dashing and blocking. The control pad goes up and down shuffling through your techniques and spells, and triangle selects them. Pressing right on the control pad will go to your dimension link (D-Link) menu, which lets you call on the power of another character for some special abilities, like summoning. Pacing in the game was a bit weird, at least for Ven's story. Beating the first few worlds only took me about 3 hours. And before I knew it, I was at the Keyblade Graveyard (Final world.) Some worlds were also extremely shorter than others, and some worlds were random, and you didn't really DO anything. The difficulty in the game goes all over the place. Like, you fight Lucifer the cat (I think that's his name), and he's easy as crap. Then you randomly fight Vanitas alongside Mickey and you actually have to THINK about what you're doing. Not to mention how you fight Captain Hook, then you go straight to the last two bosses. Graphics were amazing for a handheld game. There's even a hi-definition function for more clear graphics. Though, if using it, you'll also have to use the data install function to kill the horrible lag, but still takes up 600 MB. Which brings me to the worst part of the game, LAG. In game action was perfect and smooth, but loading times are horrible. It's also horrible when you're going into limit mode, and you sometimes just watch Ven, Terra, and Aqua power up for 30 minutes (SUPER SAIYAN THREE). You can fix this awful lag by using the data install function on the main menu. The data install makes the game familiarized with your memory stick or something, causing it to run smoother. There are 3 types of data installs, 200 MB, 400 MB, and 600 MB. Obviously, the game goes smoother and faster the more MB you spare. BUT THE PROBLEM IS THAT MOST REGULAR MEMORY STICKS, like mine, ARE 28 MB MAX. So I've already beaten one part of the game, and don't wanna lose it by switching to one of those 800 MB memory cards, so I'll get one and use it when the American version comes out, which I will play to watch cutscenes and see if there was anything I could have done to make the game easier I just didn't realize or something. So, uh, after this game, from my favorite to least favorite KH games are. 1. Birth By Sleep 1. KH2 2. 358/2 3. KH 4. KH: COM If you don't wanna import it, then it's okay. But it really was fun, It ties with KH2 as my favorite in the series to date. |

Coded's last episode was released. We now know what Mickey's message to Sora said.
Spoiler: I wanted to tell you immediately. There were memories asleep inside of you. And those memory fragments connect to the future. Sora, Riku, Kairi... The truth surrounding the keyblade passes through numerous connections. And were inside your hearts. Sora. Everyone connected to you is waiting for you. The only one who can heal their sadness is you. It's possible that the travels up until now may have been easy compared to what is next. Everything thought to be accidental was really connected. It seems that a door to departure is already opening. In other news, I've almost finished Terra's story. |

I hated Roxas, and because of that I hated Ven, but I'm really starting to like Ven. He might be the best person of that exact same build, with short spikey hair.

Thanks for all the reviews on it without to many spoilers (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lalaexdee.gif) although I have basically spoiled already for myself, seeing all the things on the interweb! :) Finally I have always wanted to know what that dang mystery letter said!! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lalaexdee.gif) Man I can't wait for BBS, anybody have a time when it might be out? I'm thinking Late August early September. Early December at the latest. Tolby: I like both Roxas and Ven :) |

Hey, guys! I'm back from a little vacation, and in the time I've been gone I beat Birth By sleep.
Well, I actually beat it a few days after I left. Secret ending and all. I haven't beaten the secret boss yet (IMPOSSIBLEEEEEE) but yeah, MORE REVIEWING. I knew I was missing something when I beat all three stories, and looked online and saw MANY cutscenes I never saw, boss fights that were integral to the story, and the HP bars were 5 times the size of mine. So, I looked up a translation guide. You get status boosts, like HP boosts, by synthesizing your techniques with a certain stone. The Moisture stone creates a technique which raises your HP, and after you max out the technique, you don't need to have the technique equipped for the status boost to be in effect. And for those other cut scenes, that's too big a spoiler to spoil. AND ACTUAL REVIEW AGAIN. Terra's story: Well, the storyline for this game is kinda bland. It's obvious what's gonna happen at the end, but the actual gameplay is fun and solid. During the final battle, the only way you can win is by spamming one move, but I didn't really mind. Terra is meant to solely just overpower the opponent, and it works fine that way. Ven's story: This really felt a lot like playing KH1, 2, and 358/2. I enjoyed it IMMENSELY. The plots were similar to the way Sora interacted in the worlds, and with his friends. Ven has a balance of both magic and strength, as well as great speed. So Ven is extremely fun to play. I really liked about everything in Ven's story, except for the final boss (UGH, such a let down.) Aqua's story: Aqua has HORRIBLE attack. Her magic is only even mediocre at best. I'd rather have Ven's magic skills than her crappy strength and kinda good magic. Her defense is even worse. I never really died, but I had to heal thousands of times. Right now, Aqua is a beast, but that's only because I took the time to max out her HP, get the best techniques and magic, and do just about everything to beef her up. But throughout the actual game, Aqua's story is my least favorite. The three stories KINDA felt like three different games. Since they all had their own feel to it, and only were the same for the first 10 minutes of the game. I'm tired now, and I bet I made a lot of grammar mistakes. So I'll put more up later. |

thanks again for even more reviews lenny!
Seeing how Aqua is one of the worst is a let down, I was expecting her stats to be better then Ven's. And have Terra be the best. |

If Terra and Ven had a face to face battle at their best, either Ven would win, or it would be a draw. Terra has incredible strength and defense, but his magic is about as good as Aqua's attack. Ven has good magic, good defense, and decent strength. Ven would be able to get the edge on Terra by Terra's inability to heal as efficiently and well as Ven.
Aqua isn't that bad, she just happens to be the worst of the three when it comes to being able to beat the crap out of unversed and move on. Aqua actually makes you THINK about what move you need to make, which is actually a nice change from Terra being able to beat the crap out of people and Ven's rather easy storyline. It's quite ironic that the hardest boss in the storyline goes to Aqua. AND YEAH, I actually didn't know that you could do single player stuff at the mirage arena. And you can get rewards like HP ups, strength boosts, new shoot lock commands, and even knew movement abilities. Everytime I think I beat the game it gives me a new challenge. Also, after beating the final ending thing, you can fight the secret boss, who is impossible as CRAP. I can survive for 20 seconds with my best person, Ven. Apparently you can only hurt the secret boss with magic. He only has ONE life bar, but is impossible to even touch, and he can kill you with MAX HP AND defense in about 3 hits. |

Birth By Sleep ties with KH2 for my favorite in the series. It's fun, actually a bit challenging, and still has a great story. It was probably one of my best import decisions ever.

The one thing that is going to make me feeling sad while playing BbS is the inital thought that none of those worlds will probably ever be in future games because they get destroyed...
Also, I think after Coded and BbS are released, I'm gonna need someone to explain EVERYTHING to me. I have played all the games so far (never finished CoM because of pure boredom) and I get some of the connections, but I'm still in some parts so lossed with the whole Organization XIII, which Ansem is which and who Xemnas's nobody is, who Ansem the Wise is, etc. ^_^ |

As I've played all of BBS and watched all of Coded online, I could probably answer all your questions.
ZBoy's Ansem/Xemnas explanation. Spoiler:
Master Xehanort was a very great Keyblade Master, who used to be a colleague of Eraqus (Who is Ven's, Aqua's, and Terra's teacher.) Unlike Eraqus, though, Xehanort used dark techniques in his fighting. Master Xehanort lived in Destiny Islands for a long time, and is actually the reason Riku aspired to set out to new worlds (Since Riku saw him leave one day, to another world.) Xehanort found a master who taught him how to use the keyblade, and Xehanort eventually befriended Eraqus. Xehanort eventually, through his studies, learned about kingdom hearts, and how he would gain absolute power should he control it. Xehanort eventually became too old for him to see his plans through, so he decided he would look for a vessel to put his soul in. Xehanort met Ven, and tried to train Ven in the ways of the keyblade. Ven, however, was too kindhearted and gentle from him, so he broke Ven's heart into pure light, and pure evil, the evil part became known as Vanitas, who Xehanort decided would be his apprentice instead. However, due to Ven losing half of himself, and not being as strong, Ven began to die. Once, however, Xehanort saw Ven about to die, and Ven summoned the keyblade and survived, Xehanort realized if Ven could match Vanitas in power, the two could join together, and create the ultimate Keyblade (X-Blade) and be capable of unlocking kingdom hearts. So, Xehanort gave Ven to Eraqus, and Xehanort would train Vanitas for the day they could join together again. HOWEVER, at the end of Birth By Sleep, after Vanitas Absorbs Ven, and creates the X-Blade, Aqua fight Vanitas from the outside, awhilst Ven fight Vanitas from the inside (Both their final battles.) Vanitas is then destroyed completely and Xehanorts' plan to unlock Kingdom Hearts failed. So, he decided to take over Terra's body, and he was victorious. However, Terra's soul took over Terra's old armor, and the soul filled armor defeated Xehanort in Terra's body. This caused the place they were in to have a mass explosion and Aqua, Ven, and Mickey were sent spiraling into space together, while the Armor was able to stay on the planet remains, and Terra-Nort (lol) was sent to Radiant Gardens. Sadly, Ven's heart was broken after Vanitas was destroyed, so Ven put his heart into a pure-hearted boy, Sora. This caused Ven to fall into a coma. Aqua found Terra-Nort at Radiant Gardens, and tried to bring Terra out, though since it was really Xehanort, Xehanort attacked her. She defeated him, though, and knocked him out, causing him to lose his memory (He was found by Ansem the Wise the next day.) Aqua actually sacrificed herself, though, to save Terra's body (Which was being occupied by Xehanort.) Aqua then wandered in darkness, Ven stayed in a coma, and Terra waited quietly in the keyblade graveyard in his armor, waiting for Aqua and Ven to be saved by the one he chose to save them (Who was Riku, but became Sora since Riku gave into the darkness.) Awhilst not having any memories, Xehanort was still a jerk. He became obsessed with finding out more of the heartless and nobodies, and sacrificed his own body to make his heartless, who was named Ansem after his master, and Xemnas, another acronym for Ansem. Ansem desired to open Kingdom Hearts to create a perfect world, and Xemnas had the same goals as his old-old self, Master Xehanort. Though he tried using Sora to do it, instead. Both Ansem and Xemnas were defeated by Sora, and Sora's next journey, apparently, is to save Aqua, Terra, and Ven. |

Awesome thank you!
So basicly: Spoiler: That bald man from BbS is Ansem and his nobody is Xemnas? And so this whole thing with Tetra being locked up in his armor, Aqua in the darkness, and Ven in a coma. Is this gonna have to do with Sora having to save everyone? Where are Roxas, Namine, and Xion "locked up"? And so Riku was supposed to be what Sora is now? Sorry for all the questions in that block, I'm just trying to get an idea of everything. |
