Wow. While I'm sad to see this site go down I am not surprised (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lalacry.gif) I haven't been here in a long while or active in an even longer while as there really wasn't much that drew me. That being said this site has helped me through some... turbulent moments in my life (like sitting in my first year lecture hall and being confused and lonely as heck) and was definitely a creative outlet for my very first fan-fiction. (I should probably complete it and re-save it before things go down >_>) My only regret is not having joined this forum during its peak days as I am sure I would have made even more great memories. Though I spend less time playing Harvest Moon/SoS these days, the games and this site will always have a special place in my heart. I am happy to have contributed a little to the wiki and have a share in posting and the discussions. Here's to another wonderful chapter (life) as this particular chapter in life comes to a close. With much love, Kari Sharing Kari's post here. It's a good post. |

Good evening everyone who still lurks here! While discussing the forum coming to a close on Ranch Story's discord, which you can still join via the main page of the forum, we lamented how the archival features of the message board were somewhat lacking. So, to mitigate that, we came up with a new, final forum event: RS Historia. Simply dig up a favorite post out of any thread and quote it here, post pictures from our Gallery, or anything else that comes to mind. Hopefully this will make it easier to archive everyone's memories, as well as give a singular place for places like Archive.org to contain a more permanent record of our last thoughts on the place. Personally, one of the fondest memories I'll have is probably of Harvest. A friendly user who didn't have English as their first language, sometimes difficult to understand, but we all loved just the same. Valentine's Day 2016 chocolate cream good a boyfriend. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lalasmile.gif) Hope you're having a good time out there, Harvest! |

Ranch Story's website, forums, and wiki will shut down on May 13th, 2019. Hard to believe it lasted over a decade! Our community's had a long history now, with many changes to all of us as we've continued, but it was always a close-knit and loving place. Though we're far from active enough for weekly, monthly, or sometimes even annual events with each other any more, it will be a surprising change to see the place gone forever. Especially with the Switch Story of Seasons game still looming on the distant horizon. Thank you Marie, Jason, Hayley, Anne, Kat, Emy, Gabby, Matt, Gina, Peter, Novi, Kyle, Eden, Crystal Talian, Chris, Daniel, Katie, Lindstrom, Summer, Mimi, Ayame, Oscar, Tyler, and everyone else who's still checked in every so often. Our discord server and blog will still continue, and if any of you haven't already joined it, we would appreciate seeing you again by visiting us there. http://store.steampowered.com/app/413150/ It definitely seems like it's doing well. Still haven't managed to get a copy, but from what I hear about it's updates, jumping in later may actually be ideal. Always gotta love new starting options. |

My hopes after the last few offerings from Natsume are through the ground, but I guess I'll keep a bit of an eye on it. They seem to be learning at least. |

I have literally no idea. This place was asked for, I made it, and then no one did anything with it. I thought giving a little framework may encourage people, but alas. |

Since this is an RP forum, I'm feeling we should make a collaborative rules thread instead of an iron clad, unbreakable document. These are suggestions, and I think it would be a good idea to make use of them, as well as contribute your own ideas. Hopefully making this topic will encourage this forum to actually be used after it was requested by bringing a starting point. If you feel something is too verbose and could be made more clear, say so. I'm not an expert. HOW TO POST General: RPing! A magical thing where you get to try to live inside the mind of your favorite/original characters, put them in new situations, and explore how they would react to the world with likeminded people who can keep things interesting and force you to improvise. Explore worlds, fears, fantasies, pick up where your favorite story left off, and just have fun! While RPing can basically be collaborative fan fiction (unless it's an original work), we have already have a forum for that here. Anyway, now that the basic idea is out of the way, here's some pointers for some nice, clear, concise posts and threads. Detail: Write a lot. Since this is a place where imagination runs free, quality and quantity are wanted. Does your character furrow their brow? Mention it. Do they smell bullshit when someone's trying to convince them of something? Are they gazing off in another direction instead of paying attention where they should? Well, say so. There is nothing too small to mention, and your posts should probably be more than dialog unless it's a rapid-fire exchange and nothing has changed. Characters: Though I don't think I need to mention this, remember that they need to develop. Don't have someone who just is. This means that your character grows, changes, and learns new things with time. Events will change your character: it is inevitable. But it's important that you understand that characters do not develop overnight, even if your character is making a conscious effort to change. To that end, it's not often a person lays out who they are when they first introduce themselves. Combat: This is something I see that is often just handled stupidly. When words are being blows, never post points of damage your weapon/spells are doing. Rather, describe how powerful it is by how tired it makes the mage, by how much weight the warrior puts into his swing, etc. Example of how NOT to do it: "I do like, 32 damage because I am leet lol" Example of how to do it: "Lunging with his spear, he attacked with all his might." Basic dialog guidelines: Quotes (" ") for dialog, thoughts in italics, other nonverbal communication (telepathy, sign language, whatever) in * or -. Though that's probably not an essential rule, it helps a lot. Also, ya know, that thing called grammar and spelling. Readability is super keen. Character interaction: Don't make someone else's character act how they don't want to. You don't say your sword hit them, you don't say they handed something they own to you. You say you swung your weapon, you say you held out your hand expecting it, you ask if they want you to, etc. Loner RP: One thing I see often is that sometimes people want to play a loner. That's okay, and I think all of us can think of a "Loner" character they like, but... it's not very interesting to the other players/readers to see someone not interacting with anyone and just doing their own thing and ignoring anyone who tries to interact with them. At some point that "loner" just feels disruptive more than anything. A lot of these same sensibilities can be attached to "stealthy" characters as well. That said, a sort of "single player" RP is technically viable. For example, roleplaying as a character telling a story. Something like this would allow you to have sole control of the story, but also interact with other posters as the character you're roleplaying. Such as if a poster wanted to ask a question from that character. It's fairly close to fanfiction, but the interactivity helps it stray away from that. |

Marie comes from another world (that is, Tumblr) to help sort out some new info: QUOTE The page on the left is primarily stressing these things: Pets. Farm life (animals, field work, and fishing). The bachelor is from the Western town (West Town) and named Wayne. He delivers mail and though he’s a likeable guy, he does like to tease people. There’s a tiny note at the bottom that says the game is approximately 80% complete at this point. The page on the left stresses these things: The “Edit Farm” system returns. One of the screenshots seems to suggest that you can move fields in this one, which is something you could do in A New Beginning that was removed in Story of Seasons. The ability to edit the interior of your home returns, too. There’s a new system called the “Farm Circle” that involves placing items around your farm in certain combos to increase your harvest. This sounds similar to the combo system in Story of Seasons, only this time it directly affects your crops, rather than your maker sheds, etc. The same section also stresses that placing scarecrows around your farm will increase your harvest. (This makes sense, since the scarecrows ought to be startling away any pesky birds or other would-be crop thieves…in theory. I’ve never seen this work well in real life, but, hey. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lalaexdee.gif) I think occasionally firing off a loud shotgun works better, but I don’t think we’ll ever see that in a Bokumono game…) The bachelorette is…Lisette is how I’d romanise it. (It’s literally “Rishetto.”) She’s also from the Western town. She’s a lively girl who works at the flower shop. |

You can find him hiding in various places. Different conditions for each one though. There's some other stuff like that too, like a rubber ducky. |
